Girls' Hike & Camp Jackets

Insulated jackets with synthetic fill and a 600–800 fill power work well for camping into the 20°F range, especially when layered. Look for body-mapped PrimaLoft or similar synthetic insulation combined with a DWR-treated recycled polyester shell to retain warmth even when damp.

For wet conditions, prioritize waterproof ratings in the 5,000–20,000mm range and seam-sealed construction; seams sealed up to 10,000mm offer solid protection on soggy trails. Also check breathability specs around 8,000g/m²/24hrs and DWR-treated recycled polyester so moisture sheds without trapping sweat.

Lightweight windbreakers under 12oz are ideal for windy, active hikes since they move with your child and stow easily in a pack. Models like the Roxy American Pie pack under 10oz and often use recycled polyester shells with DWR finishes for quick-dry performance.

Pay attention to girls' specific sizing charts that note shorter torsos and narrower shoulders, and choose slim, regular, or athletic fits based on your child’s proportions. Adjustable hems, articulated sleeves for arm swing, and a little room for layering will extend the jacket’s useful growth window.

Features like underarm vents and ventilation perforations improve airflow during fast-paced hikes and help prevent overheating while moving. A helmet-compatible hood and stash pockets can be useful extras, and ultralight options like the Vario insulated jacket include purposeful ventilation for high-output days.
