Boys' Gray Ski Pants & Bibs

Bibs give full coverage and are best for deep powder or wet snow days because the full-overall design and shoulder straps prevent snow from getting in at the waist. Pants, whether side-zip or full with adjustable waistbands, are more convenient for all-day resort skiing and park laps on groomed runs.

For below-freezing days, choose insulated pants or bibs toward the upper end of the 40–120g synthetic fill range to retain heat. Models like the 686 Boys' Frontier Insulated Bib use 60g of insulation and a 10K/10K membrane, showing how insulation and waterproofing work together for cold, wet conditions.

A 10K–15K mm waterproof rating is a solid balance for wet, slushy resort days since it sheds melting snow while allowing some breathability. Pair that with 10K–15K g/m²/24hr breathability and taped seams for durability; the Burton Kids' Skylar 2L Bib at 15K is a good example of a protective shell.

Make sure pants have a shorter inseam that tucks into boots, articulated knees for mobility, and a roomy seat for comfortable movement. Adjustable waistbands and grow cuffs—often adding about 2 inches—help accommodate base layers and extend the pant's fit as your child grows.

Shell bibs offer the most layering flexibility because you can add or remove base layers to regulate temperature, while insulated pants give built-in warmth for consistently cold days. If you want versatility for variable conditions, choose a 2-layer shell like the Burton Kids' Skylar 2L; opt for insulated pieces when you expect sustained below-freezing temps and need the 40–120g fill range.
