Squadra Vest
You've reached the summit of a stunning mountain pass after a tedious ascent, taking the staggering beauty that surrounds you, you are encompassed with a true sense of self affirmation for the hours of training and dedication you've put in. Pounding water, and snacking on your nutrition bar, you allow endorphins to course through your veins, moving your mind to a euphoric state. A long and windy descent awaits you, rewarding your cramped quads with a nearly effortless roll back down, through arcing bows of trees, and past vineyards. A cool breeze whisks by, reminding you that your cooling sweat will give you quite the chill as you descend, but not to worry, you brought along your Castelli Squadra Vest to take the wind off of your core, for a warm and lightly insulated ride down.
Made from polyester ripstop, the Squadra Vest cuts through the wind effortlessly, but is lightweight enough that it doesn't overly insulate, so you won't find yourself overheating from this vest. A light DWR coating is applied to the polyester to help shed a bit of rain, but it is not designed to be a completely water repellent piece, this vest is ideal for light summer rain, or chilly wind. Reflective accents adorn the back to increase your visibility to cars, and rear mesh venting helps you shed moisture to keep comfortable as you soak in the sights unfolding in front of you.
- A minimalist vest for keeping your core warm in the breeze

I haven’t had a chance to ride with this yet, but it’s worth spending more on a gilet. The materials are cheap feeling, which is forgivable at this price. The fit is good for a typical roadie build. The biggest draw back is that there is no access to your jersey pockets! It doesn’t seem to pack too small as well, so it’s not good for use primarily on descents either.

I really like the Castelli brand but their sizing is ridiculous. I normally wear a XL but I know this brand runs small. So, I immediately went with the 3XL and it was still pretty snug. When it comes to windbreaker vests and jackets, I like a bit of room in them because the fabric doesn't stretch much. This 3XL vest was tight enough that it was restriciting my breathing while I was standing still, I never used it on the road. I live in a northern state and I probably put a few lbs on over the winter, but not enough where a 3XL product should be tight on me.

I purchased as an extra layer for cooler and/or windy California days. Vest is nice and light with wind breaking material on front and partial mesh back to avoid overhearing but this will not keep you very warm if super cold. Sizing is true to Castelli specifications and Large is big enough to go over one or two thin layers. Nice that back is a bit longer than Jersey to provide added coverage.

Firstly, I am a fan of Castelli. This vest is my favorite. It fits well, easily folds, and it has the quality Castelli is known for. And I found the sizing superior to another Italian brand. I also want enough room in my vest for some bulky items in my jersey’s rear pockets.

First off, if you're a lycra-wearing, leg shaving cyclist, you know your clothes need to fit tight to minimize drag. Castelli is Italian which plays a factor, but has a snug fit intentionally. I bought into the over-sized hype and got a large (usually wear mediums), and it was too baggy for riding but fit comfortably. I'd definitely be flapping in a good headwind. My main complaint was that the white is very see-through, which is unfortunate. It's like wearing a white t-shirt in a thunderstorm...you can see almost completely through it. Not pro :(

So this is my own fault as the reviews say it fit's small. I wear a size L for Pearl Izumi which fits perfect every time (5'7", 170 lbs) but wanted to try something different. I barely squeezed into this vest. I'm not sure why Castelli has such a unique sizing, but buyer beware.

How mine fits...

If you have read other reviews you know that Castelli sizing runs on the smaller. This made ordering a little stressful because I didn't know if I was getting something that was going to fit me or not. With that said, everything I got fits me really well. For your sake here's my weight, height, and the size I purchased. Weight: 185 Height: 5'.9" Size: XXL Additional Sizing: My jacket size is 42 regular Fit: It fits snugly but comfortably over my jersey. Plenty of room. Overall quality is good though it seems more entry-level.

The vest is a perfect for the climate in NE Pennsylvania. You need to order three sizes larger than you wear! The zipper mount is made for a lady, (left side). Breathe deep before you zip! It should have a small pocket for your keys.......

I followed the recommendations from everyone and sized up. Good call. I am 5'11", 174 lbs. and normally wear a medium in castelli jerseys. The large fit well around the chest, but there was extra room around the stomach. This seems consistent with castelli's low to mid-tier products over the past year or two by providing extra belly room for their jerseys. No pockets in the rear, but this is more of a product to wear until the temp warms up a bit or to have in your back pocket for that unexpected weather or cold climb/decent. Packs well in a back pocket. For the price, it does the job. Just size up when ordering.

Castelli sizing is for ideal model men cyclists that you see on Tour De France!! I followed the measuring chart and ordered a size larger than I wear. When it arrived, it was 4 inches smaller than me! had to order a 3xl instead of an xl. Waiting for the vest to arrive????????

I received the vest on time.. You get what you pay for so I didn't expect that much but the vest is very light, enough for the job I guess but feels kind of cheap. Two things I didn't like. Size...I mostly wear size large and I cant even join the zippers on a extra large vest Zippers: Most vest have two zippers where you can unzipper the bottom. I took it for granted it had two consider every other vest I have has two zippers, but not this one. I'm returning this one and will go and try on the next vest as to avoid this vest issue.

I have not worn Castelli in a while, and am aware of sizing up for any Italian brand. The sizing on this vest is way off. I typically wear a Large so I ordered an XXL. I can't even zip it up because it's cut like a Medium.

Blasting down Vail Pass at 40 plus mph in heavy rain and light hail and this vest kept me warm and dry. I typically wear a large in other brands but always buy one size up in Castelli.

I always size up for road gear vs. mtb gear or causal clothing, but this still runs about half a size small compared to other road cycling gear. I typically wear a large (in Pactimo aero fit, for example), and that gives me a little breathing room without being completely skin tight. If this vest were any smaller I couldn't have zipped it up. If you want a really, really close fit that will absolutely not flap in the wind, the sizing is probably accurate. But if you want a little room, order one size up from you normal size in road gear, or two sizes up from what you wear in causal clothing. Other than sizing, it's a nice vest, but feels a little "plasticky" and stiff.
