Get into the holiday spirit.
With the holiday season getting near, we were inspired to collaborate with Castelli to create a line of impeccably fitting long-sleeve cycling jerseys that would help us show our holiday spirit while out on the bike. The Hanukkah Sweater Jersey was made to pay homage the Festival of Lights, and the dreidels, menorah candles, and Star of David celebrate the holiday in the style of a vintage — or, for the less charitable, an "ugly" — holiday sweater that's imbued with all of the functionality of one of our favorite thermal cycling jerseys.
Since the Hanukkah Sweater Jersey was built on a platform similar to Castelli's pro-level Puro jersey, it feels a lot better during cool-weather base mile rides than an itchy holiday sweater would. Thermal fabric on the body blocks icy wind and rain, while the insulating, brushed interior keeps warm air next to your skin. It also works to continuously wick moisture and manage body temperature through steep, slow climbs and wind-filled descents alike.
Castelli finishes the jersey with the types of purposeful extras you'd expect, including a silicone gripper at the waist and three rear pockets to provide plenty of room for ride essentials. While Castelli claims this jersey is ideal for 50-degree days with a light chill in the air, we'd combine it with a base layer and wear it on days well into the 40's without concern.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
Originally, I purchased this Hanukkah jersey just to have something different to wear when the weather turned colder (plus it was on sale...). However, I was somewhat unprepared for the excellence of this clever Castelli product, the first I have owned (but it won't be the last). The graphics, although, perhaps, somewhat unusual for this kind of product, are extraordinarily well done, the colors vibrant and eye-catching, and the overall quality of the jersey is top notch in both materials and workmanship; it really has a quality feel. I bought an XL (I usually wear L) in order to use a base layer in colder weather and the fit is just about perfect; plus, I have long arms and the sleeves are of sufficient length, a nice feature; the torso length is excellent as well (I'm ~ 6'1").
And, yeah, it is unique; you can't ignore the graphics and you might get some looks if you wear it to the coffee shop after the ride, but who cares? Drink your latte and bask in the uniqueness of things and the variety of life. If you are Jewish, wear it with pride; if you are not Jewish (and I am not) wear it to display your awareness of and pride in multiculturalism; and, if you are just a run-of-the-mill cyclist like me, also wear it because it's such a damn fine jersey. Buy one, trust me, you won't be disappointed.
