Traditional chest ascenders work, but they have always asked the climber to accept a certain amount of friction, rope wear, and fussiness as part of the deal. The CAMP Turbochest Ascender takes a different approach, introducing a dual-roller system that transforms the interface between device and rope into something genuinely smooth, efficient, and noticeably easier on both the climber and the rope itself.

The two rollers do more than reduce friction on the way up. They eliminate the concentrated wear point where rope and device body meet on conventional ascenders, extending the life of both in demanding conditions. A perfectly profiled closure keeps the rope tracking in line with the device through tight pendulums and traverses where a standard chest ascender might allow the rope to wander, while drain holes along the body and toothed cam clear mud, grit, and ice before they can compromise function. Thicker body plates and a shaped connection point reduce the shifting between device and connector that causes wear over time and keeps everything sitting closer to the body during long ascents. The lockable opening and removable pull cord make attachment and operation straightforward in gloves, and the roller system doubles as a locking pulley for light hauling up to 50kg when the route demands it.
