Titan Climbing Helmet

CAMP USA is truly a giant of the climbing helmet world, and its Titan Climbing Helmet is a trusted workhorse that's counted on by professional climbers, recreational rock rats, and guiding outfits alike. Injected ABS makes the shell extremely tough, and it's specially shaped to optimize strength while keeping weight and bulk to a minimum.

This helmet is assembled without fixed components so it can be easily disassembled for easy cleaning and maintenance, making it ideal for adventure parks and guiding companies, or just for the dirtbag climber who will be counting on this helmet for years to come. The Spider suspension framework offers a precise fit and excellent ventilation to keep you cool on grueling ascents, and the lining wicks sweat and dries quickly for extra comfort.

Four headlamp holder clips give you plenty of illumination options. A sturdy size adjustment wheel ensures your helmet won't shift when you're making aggressive moves on tricky routes. Between its reliability, toughness, comfort, and striking aesthetic, the Titan makes a convincing case about why it should be your trusted climbing companion.

Great helmet for the price

I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought
150 lbs

Just used this helmet for a 3 week climbing trip in mountain and alpine climbing and am very pleased overall with it's performance and fit. Based on other reviews saying it was too small I went with the larger size option and it fit well. I had previously owned the black diamond half dome helmet and that helmet would always shift around on my head, this helmet has a much better suspension system, material construction, and tightening system that keep the helmet comfortably secure all day without any shifting around as you look up and down while on route. It takes impacts well as tested when a large dinner plate of ice fell on my head while on a AI3 route. The only things that could be better about this helmet are: 1. weight - it's on the heavy side, you can definitely feel it, but at this price it's acceptable. I also was looking for a hard shell helmet for alpine and multipitch trad that can reliably take abuse for years and this helmet will certainly meet that. 2. color - can we please get something more neutral? gray -good, orange ... not my first choice. But in the gear industry it's all about flash and flair i guess...

Runs Small

Number 1 indicates Small size. Who would guess? Better be commented in the description. And it is really small. Have to return.

They tell you what head circumferences size 1 and 2 each accommodate. You just have to read thoroughly.

Great Helmet

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I would feel comfortable taking this helmet on any type of climb for any period of time. The fit is very adjustable. I had no problems wearing a thick beanie with this helmet. The rotary dial on the back of the helmet doesn't seem to slip and also has vertical adjustment to pull the rear support to the base of your skull. The micro-netting in the top of the helmet keeps the small Styrofoam block from contacting your head too much. There is also another interior adjustment to the main helmet suspension system to fit a smaller head (maybe for children??) The only "con" I can think of is the weight of this helmet. I am not too concerned about weight but I am sure some "ultra-light" climbers might complain. There seems to be a second size of helmet available from the manufacturer. Upon purchasing form BackCountry, I wasn't able to specify the size and was shipped the larger size by default. Regardless of size, this helmet will tighten down to fit a much smaller person. Also, I didn't care too much for the chin strap cover. I simply removed this. Planning on purchasing another one of these for my wife!

Size issue

I returned this product before using it

Helmet appears to be good, but very small. Web did not indicate that what was to be shipped was a small sized helmet. Too small for my large head.

Great protection at a great price

I've put it through the wringer

So glad I got a helmet after being mortified of flipping on my first experience with runout granite slab. This helmet was a great price and so I bought it. More than a year later I have found it to also be very comfortable and breathable despite it being a bit heavier than all foam helmets. The adjustment system is great and it sits on my head without shifting no matter my position. Thankfully I haven't had a situation where it was needed (other than constantly randomly bumping my head at crags because I'm a clutz, thus why I just wear it till I'm done climbing) but I like having the peace of mind knowing that it will give me protection in that worst case scenario, especially considering I'm getting more and more into trad climbing in areas with increased risk of rockfall. The only downside I can really speak of is that the adjustment ratchet part of the suspension system does rub against the bump on the back of my skull a bit (occipital bun) but I've gotten so used to it that it hardly bothers me anymore.

Best helmet I've owned

I've put it through the wringer

Bought this helmet for sport climbing. Previous experience was with the Black Diamond and Petzl base models. This helmet is really comfortable, and I love the way the shell sits on a padded microfiber suspension system instead of a foam "brick" that contacts your head directly. You can really tweak the fit to the shape of your head without painful rubbing on your scalp. It also allows for better ventilation than other helmets I've worn. The straps have multiple adjustment points and are made of soft materials that don't irritate your chin/neck area. It doesn't bounce around or block your view while lead climbing, which is a major deterrent for most to wear a helmet.I never used the headlamp clips, but those are a nice touch as well. Overall I highly recommend this helmet!

Excellent helmet

I've put it through the wringer

Awesome helmet for the price. We purchased eleven of them to use on our adventure cave tours. We operate a commercial cave business. We offer a three hour wild tour in one of our caves and wanted to up grade our helmets. We chose the Titan and our customers loved them. In fact two of our employees purchased one for themselves. For the money we don't think we could have gotten a more comfortable and adjustable helmet. Outstanding customer service and shipping was less than two days. Birney H.

Glad to hear they're exactly what you needed, Birney!
