    Awesome...at first.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This thing makes it super easy to grill over a campfire, so you don't have to wrap everything in foil or spear dogs with questionable sticks. Unfortunately, it was pretty toast by the end of the summer from warping. Used the hell out of it for one season though, so if you don't camp much this could last a lot longer.

    Super!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this thing! I don't like using the ones on the fire pits in the campground, so this goes with me every time. You can use it as a grill or with pots/pans so it is pretty versatile!

    Camping Gourmet!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

We are getting our truck / river camping setup dialed this year, and this Camp Chef grill grate is really pulling its weight. Previously, we've just wrapped food in foil, and tossed them on some coals. Works well, no doubt, but more of a steam action than that delicious grill crust that sometimes is just what you need. Be honest here, burn flavor can really bring it home. A cool heirloom tomato, with grill marks on the face and still juicy inside... divine!

Also works well with the skillet on top, obviously. It's nice to not have your skillet covered in ash after every trip, too.

No opinion on durability yet, but seems solid and stable enough.

    Getting Fat in the Backcountry

I picked up this grill for my last trip to Escalante and it completely changed my glamping experience. I am all for fires when the area permits and it is always great to be able to cook over an open flame. However, I used to simply put all my pots and pans directly in the fire when cooking and that caused issue: unimaginably hot cookware, ashy food, inability to keep the fire roasting. The Lumberjack Over Fire Grill makes it easy to avoid these problems and really enhances the entire cooking experience. You can grill directly over on the grill, or use it with whatever pots and pans you need.

      Getting Fat in the Backcountry

It does just what it says!

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

If you want to cook on a fire, then this is your ticket. It can get a little messy, so I'd suggest you also get the carrying case to make it easier to transport.

      Car camping must!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is essential for cooking while camping, simple, but gets the job done well. Grilled some steaks, warmed up a rotisserie chicken on this grill, gave everything a perfect smokey flavor. Great for car camping!

      Standard Issue Cooking Grill

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great piece of gear every camper should have. Sometimes the state park fire rings get a little beat up. What if there is no fire ring? That's where this beauty comes in. It's slim enough so it doesn't take up a lot of room. I can still bring a small grill along and have plenty of options to cook food on. works great with a cast iron skillet. Save the box it came in and keep your vehicle clean.

Grilled bacon at the campsite... need I say more? You'll be the envy of all your car-camping friends when you whip out this handy grill top. Legs fold in flat for easy storage.

        Set it and Chill

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Looking for the perfect evening with a fire and a meal? This is a needed tool to your palpable (I looked that one up) sense of hunger that lingers in the air while enjoying the fire. Lay this across the fire and cook that food!

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought one of these previously but it got warped due to the heat of the campfire. I've used the new one once and used a cast iron skillet on top of it. The metal grate is slight caving in, hopefully it doesn't get worse.

        Camp food is amazing

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you like to cook over an open fire get this! it folds up flat and is easy to store. the surface space is plenty big enough to grill for a huge group of people. Clean up is a bit tough but nothing beyond any outdoor grill. I look forward to camping so that i can use this grill.

        Bad Ass Grill

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am totally digging this grill. So easy to set up over your camp fire and cooks wonderfully. It has raised the bar on the way I cook during my camping adventures.

        The large, is LARGE

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I originally ordered the 18x36 thinking it would be great for group camping trips so everyone could toss something on the grill... however this size was WAY too big! I was appalled by the size ( I should have actually broke out the tape measure before ordering which was my mistake) It would be too big to fit into any designating campsite fire ring and also too big to even want to carry with you. I returned and ordered the smaller size which I look forward to use after the winter is over.. I will report back with a review on the small after using it!

        great

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

this is a must have for car camping! I advise to keep the original box that it comes in so when you pack up camp it doesn't get your vehicle dirty.

        Awesome grill!

This grill is perfect for car camping. As others mentioned, it is heavy and comes covered in grease but as long as you're prepared it's not an issue. I'm glad I ordered the smaller size because it fits perfectly in most fire pits. You can cook anything on this thing.

          Awesome grill!

Tried cooking fish over the fire the other night while camping and it was the biggest hassle trying to pull them out of the fire. With this grill, it made it 100 times easier to turn the fish over and cook without burning them.

          Heavy Duty

This is a pretty sturdy grill grate. Makes cooking over a fire really easy and if done correctly, you can cook some really great food with it. Comes covered with a really thick grease/oil you have to burn off.
