Untouched powder fields, snow-choked glades, and daring lines await you with the Burton Hitchhiker Snowboard Binding. This splitboard-specific binding may not be the lightest backcountry option out there, but what it lacks in lightness it more than makes up for with its on-snow performance. It provides the comfort you want when spending long days in the backcountry, and offers the solid feel you need for dropping cliffs, sending natural hits, and navigating technical terrain.
Burton deferred to the backcountry touring expertise of Spark R&D and used their Tesla T1 System as the basis for the Hitchhiker. This touring interface features Side-Lock touring brackets that eliminate the need for pesky pin systems, which are a major hassle to transition from touring to riding. Not only is this interface much faster on the transition, but just as importantly, it offers an efficient interface for demanding tours with its free-rotating attachment and integrated fatty climbing wire (attached to the binding instead of heel plate). Another cool feature is the ability to attach Burton Splitboard Crampons (not included) for extra traction across icy glaciers and treacherous snow.
The rest of the binding sports Burton's premium components for the best in comfort and support when you're skinning up and ripping down the lines of your dreams. The Single-Component Hi-Back is stiff enough for charging steeps and railing dreamy carves down springtime corn, with strategic padding to eliminate calf bite and pressure points. Negative forward lean enhances your stride on the skin-track, all without requiring a tool with its quick-adjust lever. Burton's Hammockstrap is the same as what you'd find on their award-winning Genesis and Malavita bindings, offering a secure, boot-wrapping fit. The Supergrip Capstrap hugs the tip of your boot, ensuring a non-slip fit for riders plunging down chutes and open bowls at high speeds.
Please note, the Hitchhiker comes with brackets and heel plates, but it doesn't include Spark R&D pucks. All 2015 and newer Burton Splits include compatible pucks, but riders with other splitboards will have to purchase the pucks separately.
