Skin up, drop in, and explore further on the Hometown Hero Splitboard

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I brought the Hometown Hero Splitboard on a mixed bag tour, tight trees on the way in and open bowls higher up, and the directional camber kept me stable through variable snow without giving up any float once things opened up. Transitioning at the top was quick thanks to the Split Channel mount, the pucks were already set, so I was clicked back in and dropping before my group even had their skins off. This is my go-to board anytime I'm not sure what the descent is going to throw at me."

The skin track winds through trees before opening onto a wide, untouched bowl, and the Family Tree Hometown Hero Splitboard is built for exactly that transition. At Backcountry, we know backcountry days rarely stay predictable, tight glades give way to open faces, wind-affected snow turns to soft powder without warning, and your gear needs to keep up without asking you to compromise. This board rides that shift without missing a beat.

Directional camber under both feet keeps the board planted and stable through the deep, dodgy turns of mixed conditions, while a rockered nose lifts up top for float when the snow finally opens up. The Freeride Directional Shape centers your stance for a twin feel on flat base but turns tight and quick once you're on edge, giving you a board that reads like two different tools depending on the terrain in front of you. Paired with the Split Channel mount and its pre-mounted pucks, transitions from skinning to riding happen fast, so more of your day goes toward turns and less toward fumbling with hardware at the top of the climb.

Phantom Glide By DPS Skis

This snowboard is compatible with Phantom Glide, the long-lasting base treatment from DPS Skis. Backcountry technicians apply and UV-cure it before the board ships, so it arrives ready to ride with no waxing needed.

Learn About Phantom Glide

How It Works

Pair of skis curing under the DPS Phantom Glide UV station

Applied By Backcountry Techs
Backcountry technicians treat and UV-cure every board in the shop before it leaves the warehouse, so it arrives ready to ride with no setup required.

Glide That Outlasts Wax
Wax sits on top of the base and wears off in a few days. Phantom Glide bonds into the base, so glide stays fast and consistent from cold powder to spring slush.

No More Wax Days
Phantom Glide replaces scraping, ironing, and shop visits with a quick base cleaning using the Phantom Glide Base Care Kit. The formula is made without PFAS.
