    20 years in the making.

Originally launched in '96, the Burton Custom Snowboard set the bar in all-terrain freestyle domination over the last 20 years, making it one of the most sought-after boards not only in Burton's line, but in all of snowboarding. Continuing its legendary design ethos, the Custom features all of Burton's best technologies wrapped into a traditional cambered, directional twin-shaped board.

Proving its versatility everywhere on the mountain, the Custom dissects steep lines, slashes fresh snow, and launches freestyle features with equal parts skill and poise. Its slightly set-back shape aids in stability and float, without hampering its ability to ride and land switch in the park and pipe. In fact, you'll find the traditional camber Custom is a favorite of Norwegian slayer Mikkel Bang for sending monstrous kickers and natural features in the backcountry.

Inside the Custom, the FSC Certified Super Fly II 700G Core optimizes lightweight performance and fine-tunes its medium flex pattern for riding anywhere on the mountain. Squeezebox core profiling thins out strategic zones, enhancing power transfer and aiding turn initiation. 45º Carbon Highlights add a tip-to-tail carbon layer to the fiberglass for an ultra-snappy feel when you're pre-loading ollies and launching freestyle features. Other key features include Frostbite edges for extra grip over hardpack and ice, as well as an insanely fast Sintered WFO base for fast-glide with regular waxing.

    Great board

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I picked this one up in 2012 burton hasn't really changed much. I wanted to give you a little feedback on my past experience of this board. The construction has been flawless. No issues with the edge or top sheet peeling off. This camber board holds a really good edge. This is my go to on icy day's and groomers. I'm going to stay out of the park when riding this board I would much rather ride a rocker or flat top board. Here is a profile shot of this board.

    Great board

    Awesome board, ok build

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This board is super fun. I've been riding it most of this season and I enjoy it a ton. Great flex, good for powder, good for kickers, it just does anything I want it to do with ease. I own a Neversummer Legacy as well, and while it is fun, it's not nearly as flexible and bouncy as my custom.
Downside of the custom - it doesn't seem to be built to last. I have more holes, nicks, scrapes, and scratches on this board from riding it one season than I have on my neversummer which I've ridden 9 seasons. It just seems to be softer and more prone to damage.
Overall - it's a great board and I enjoy it, I just didn't expect to need so much p-tex on its first season.

Custom owner for seven years! ICS rules!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This board has a great profile for all mountain shredding. The flex is mid- stiff under foot and soft tip and tail for variable snow conditions. The torsional flex is kept in check by the channel system in the board. Put on a pair of EST bindings on it and you will feel the full potential of this board. It is solid under foot and I have even hit 70+ MPH on this board and it did not feel out of control or loose on the snow. I have ridden this board in every snow condition imaginable and it has performed like a champ through everything that has been thrown at me. This is my cruiser board at the resort because there is not a piece of terrain that it is not solid on. Oh and I bet you are wondering how the Custom performs in powder right? 6-12" it is a champ. Deeper than that? Set your stance back and surf high tide! This board is not to be underestimated. I have never had a snowboard last as long as this one and perform great day after day riding over 80-100 days a year for the last seven years. How many snowboards do you own that you can say that about? Amazing board from one of the innovators!

Too soft for my riding style

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Last winter I had a blast testing a whole bunch of the 2015/2016 Burton line up and a whole bunch more. Contact me if you want to chat/email about which Burton board will suit your personal riding style the best.

I gave this deck a 3 out of 5 based solely on my riding style and preference. This was a rad board and I can definitely see the benefit for certain riders out there. The thing I struggled with and this was common across most of Burton for me was that the board felt a bit squirly at high speeds. When I demo'd this board, I was 185 pounds and felt like the flex pattern was too soft even though it's a medium. If I were 20 pounds lighter, I bet I'd really enjoy cruising on a Burton Custom.
