    Great for the sub-zero days.

What a great buff! My wife loves the pattern and the versatility. She wears it different ways, and it can protect her face and neck from every condition. She doesn’t know how she skied without it.

I got a plain one and have used it in many different ways. I love that there is fleece on one half and the standard material on the other so that you don't ALWAYS have to have just a fleece scarf, but you can utilize both sides.

    Works well

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Seems to work well for a little extra warmth on your face. nice to not have the fleece directly on your mouth. A bit bulky to wear all of it just around your neck though.

    Good for the Added Warmth

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this to add to my Buff collection as one with some fleece to keep my face warmer on those really cold days on the mountain. It certainly adds the extra warmth on those days, however the fleece in the Buff bunches up since it is only stitched in on one end. This is convenient when the Buff gets too wet on a really snowy day, however it makes it a little difficult for it to fit comfortably under my helmet.

    Very Happy

I love my buff. It keeps me warm and protects really well against the wind and snow while I'm riding. It dries really really fast too! It's great to wear so many different ways, especially with the two different fabrics on the Polar Buff. It tends to stretch out after a really long day, but not too bad.

    I got three as presents.

It stretched out too far for my dad to use. Had to buy a Sirius face mask at the mountain to use. My brother and mom liked them, and use them for skiing.

Wish it was a little warmer.

ayy this thing is pretty sweet. The top half is like a normal buff, but the bottom portion is fluffier and for insulating. The bottom part is great and I understand why there is both cloth types, if it was all fleece it would just be to much material. But once it gets wet from condensation from breathing or anything, it gets super cold. The merino wool is great, but is like a sponge if any water gets on it, it wont evaporate. So in short it works great just as long as its not super windy and no colder than any temperature below...I don't know.. -5. It's alright, and I still buying Buff products, but maybe more fleece...

Wish it was a little warmer.

    Not warm enough

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large

I really liked the fleece bottom half but when skiing in Utah in January the thin upper half was not warm enough on my face and I also had a really hard time getting it to stay up around my face in the first place. If skiing in warmer conditions this would be fine but in 20-30 degree weather it didn't cut it.

Great for Cold days on the Mountain

I've been using Buffs for years and really don't have anything bad to say about the polar version. It's great when riding in cold weather as the fleece can remain around your neck and you can throw up the polyester top portion as a face cover. Really the only thing I'd like to see is more colorway options .

    Kinda bloes

My wife has one, thin material outside with fleece sewn into a sort of "loop" behind...so you can adjust how much fleece rides up/down, diggin it, so I went to the Buff site & couldn't figure out which one to get; they seemed focused on all the kewl mall ninja patterns and such as opposed The differentiating between the buffs... So I figure they all be like my wife's... They're not. I ended up with a fleece neck gaiter with 20" of sheer poly-ray-ester whatever fabric attached to it, no adjustable "slip-tube" affect like my wife's... I played with it for an hour, much like you would play with a puzzle missing 15% of the pieces... Kinda useless

    Works Well!

This is a great everyday tool for skiing. It can be used in so many different ways! Facemask, headband, gaiter, etc., the buff does it all! Definitely a must have for all ski and snowboard enthusiasts.

    Who doesn't love Buffs?

I love buffs they are so versatile and can be used any day of the year. This one is great for colder days and it will keep your face from freezing. The polar fleece adds a lot of warmth while the microfiber part can wick moister away from your head. It is perfect for your winter adventures.

      Awesome for skiing

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This worked great for skiing. I like the combination of wool and breathable microfiber. The wool is great to keep your neck warm and the microfiber gives you a nice breathable face cover or balaclava. An all microfiber buff wouldn't quite be enough on my neck for winter conditions and an all wool one would be too much on the face. I have also worn it as a beanie and it works well that way too. Overall a great product and well designed!

      Split seam

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I love buffs. I have about four or five myself. I want others to enjoy and love them, too. So I purchased one for my dad. He loved it, too, except for the hole in the stitching near the seam. I'm returning this one, hoping to receive a full refund (including shipping) because of the defective product. I gave it one star because of the hole. I'll increase my score after visiting with customer service. I have already purchased and received the new one. It's perfect. My dad loves it.

Update: I returned the above buff for a full refund, including postage. Customer service was great - contacted me personally to resolve the issue. This is why I shop and buy from backcountry.com.
