Why We Like The Brooks Ghost Max Shoe

The Brooks Ghost Max shoe is built for those of us who believe there's no such thing as a shoe that's too soft. This road running shoe features a high stack of foam cushioning to place less pressure on our feet and soften the ride for our daily training runs, recovery days, and leisure walks. This max cushion version of the popular Ghost is softer than the OG and features a lower, 6mm drop for a comfortable, mid-foot strike.

Toebox is smaller and very uncomfortable even after getting a wider size.

Excellent shoe for a very picky walker

I am not a runner, I got the Ghost Maxes for walking, 5-7 miles 6 days per week. I weigh about 225 lbs, low/normal arches, plantar fasciitis and a heel spur in my right foot, feet measure 12 on the wide side of medium on the Brannock device, and I supinate a bit. Due to the issues with my right foot, any shoe or orthotic with a prominent arch support is very uncomfortable for me. Bought these in 12.5 wide and the fit out of the box was excellent, plenty of room in the toe box, heel was very comfortable, and most importantly, the arch support was not intrusive at all. The feel is very similar to a pair of NB1080 V12s that I already had. I have been walking in the Ghost Maxes for a couple of months, and they are terrific. I am able to walk very naturally and pain free without concentrating on my gait at all. I am hopeful that future iterations of this shoe will not differ much from this version since it has been so good for me. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add more color choices in wide sizes.

Solid

Solid shoes, I run 40-50 miles a week on average and have not had any pains or issues.

Toe Dimple

I bought two pair of these. One is doing great and very comfortable. The other pair has one shoe toe with a dimple in it that rubs my toe. From reading online, this sounds like it is semi-common.

Soles wearing out fast.

The soles are wearing out a lot faster than I hoped for (2 months use). I use these at work just to walk nothing crazy. The cushion is great but it doesn't help if there is no sole. Sorry but my hokas lasted longer.

Hello I have been a long time Brooks Ghost Runner, this time i was tempted to change to Ghost Max for my Philly marathon. Here is my experience, after 9 miles started to feel the pain in my right foot and some how continued to run. Post event i noticed that the outer layers of my shoes had starting to wear out quiet a bit. pls note this was a new shoes compared to the ghost which i have had no issues running with. Something to think about for a new runner ?? Thanks

So...so...

Cushion is amazing, but after about a month of use the top side of one of the shoes began to buckle inwards rubbing against the top of my large toe. When walking this now creates friction and is forming a new blister on the top of my foot.

Extra Wide too Narrow

I loved the cushioning in this shoe but for some reason this 4E wasn't as wide as the Adrenaline GTS 23. I even tried to stretch these out but to no avail.

NOT Worth the price, and certainly NOT for Nurses!!

Cheaply manufactured and Not at all supportive!! Bought a pair thinking that they would be Quasi comfortable during my nursing shift.. wrong the bulky platforms only lasted about 3 1/2 hours into the 12 hour shift.. What a shame..

Walking on air

This is my second pair of ghosts and I’m very very satisfied as I walk 4-6 k per day and at age 74 I’m pleased to have absolutely no pain
