Why We Like The Brooks Ghost 16 Shoe

To make asphalt disappear underfoot, we lace into the Brooks Ghost 16 Shoe. This iteration features the ultralight, ultra-soft DNA Loft v3 midsole foam that takes the brunt of every strike without weighting our stride. Brooks shaved even more weight off by updating the outsole's rubber zones with a stronger compound that let them thin it out without sacrificing durability.

I like them less than the 15s I have owned.

I'm a 6'4", 195 lb., size 12D, ~9:30 min/mile runner. I have owned three pairs of the Ghost 15 before buying a pair of the 16s, so my rating is using the Ghost 15 as a comparative baseline. Your mileage may vary. Pros: the heel strike on these feels softer and more evenly distributed. The tongue feels more padded. Cons: the tongue feels narrower and more difficult to get into a comfortable position due to the lack of overlap with the top/sides of the shoe. It feels like there is a distinct change in padding and/or elevation on the inside sole across the front of my foot (i.e., at the base of my toes), and the padding under the toes feels flatter. It's like my toes "slap" the ground with each step, but it's not as severe a that term makes it sound...until you're on mile 7. The toe box feels more angled along the outside (little toe side), and to be a shorter height overall, translating to more contact on my toes as I run.

Great

I’ve been bouncing around from shoe to shoe and finally came back to Brooks. I have flat feet but don’t do well with too much arch support. These are perfect.

Good shoes but narrow width isn’t narrow

Light weight, very comfortable, overall great shoes. The problem is specific to me. I have narrow feet so I ordered B width. Their “narrow” width shoes are anything but narrow. It seems like they used a regular width sole and made them narrow by using less upper shoe material.

Lighter weight and springier sole are nice improvement. The upper shoe material seems siffer than my other Brooks. Initially, the width in the front upper of the shoe seemed a half size smaller than my other Brooks in the same size. The upper material opens up with use.

Good shoes.

They are comfortable to run in, the perfect amount of cushion for my CC training.

Watch out for Brooks spamming you for reviews

The trainers are great but Brooks email incessantly asking for reviews (more than once a week, some months after purchase) - which is really off putting

Love the Ghost series. I have been training and racing in them for years. I also have a pair I wear to work. Great shoe.

Great to be back in the Ghost

I skipped the Ghost 15 and tried some competitors. Happy to be back with the Ghost. Supportive, padded without being marshmallow-squishy, and competent on both paved and unpaved surfaces. I bought a half-size larger than my usual to get more room in the toe box.

Best so far. A great ride. Faster time for less effort. Brings extra fun to my runs.

Best Brooks so far. A big upgrade on all previous Ghosts. Dynamic and responsive when I want to up the tempo yet with good cushioning too for the long runs. Felt really good on both trails and road. Noticeablly faster times for what feels like less effort. Brings extra fun to my runs. Width and fit great as usual. I have the extra wide and they are great and save having to size up for width. Totally recommended.
