    Best Buff On The Market

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

You'd think that buff are a pretty one stop item, that any will do, but Black Strap proves that notion incorrect. This is the best buff I've ever had, and I always keep a few on hand for skiing. The material is soft, and DOESN'T FREEZE. Like, ever. It wicks moisture away, keeps my face warm, and doesn't pill like regular cotton one's do. The best you could have for a face shot pow day that leaves you soaked when you thaw out during your Apres happenings. The hood helps for extra chilly days, and never feels like it's too much fabric.

    Stay Warm

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is the go to hood for me. Great fabric to wick away sweat, and keep you warm as well. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to get out on the mountain and protect their face from the elements.

    Balaclava or bust!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Just got it and it's a huge improvement over the thing little buffs I usually use. Comfortable to wear, and doesn't see to hold moisture like many face masks do. Would definitely buy again.

    The Best Balaclava

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a solid all-around face mask. It has a double layer over the mouth to help with breathability and wicking moisture. I used to just use a buff to cover my mouth/nose while snowboarding, but it would get super wet (and then cold) from my breath. I decided I needed a better solution. While this face mask does not stay 100% dry over the mouth if you are working hard/breathing a lot, it does stay significantly dryer than anything else I have tried. One of my favorite features is how easy it is to pull down the part covering your mouth and nose, and then pull it back up. This face mask definitely adds some warmth, but on super cold days or when I'm night skiing, I ski with fleece neck warmer as well.

I own several of these blackstrap balaclavas actually... there are so many fun colors, how can I choose just one? If you are looking for a face mask for your winter activities, I highly recommend this one

    Great product!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Best ski facial wear I have ever worn. It has material which wicks extremely well. Any face mask will get wet when you put it over your nose and mouth and are skiing hard. But this mask does a great job of staying dry. Also, it is so easy to pull it over your mouth and take it back down depending on conditions.

Bought two more for my brothers.

What I was trying to write is that this is the best facewarmer I’ve used — I love the versatility of the front, face-covering piece. This solves so many issues I’ve had — no gaps, great control of goggle fogging. Great product.

      Great head warmer!

I’m cold blooded and have no tolerance for those annoying freezing gaps around my helmet. I also detest fogged goggles, a frequent occurrence with certain others balaclavas.

Best face mask on the market

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The design of this mask is brilliant. The dual layers make for a comfortable and flattering fit. With the moisture-wicking fabric, you stay warm and dry all day. Even after multiple uses it holds it mold and fit just like it did the first time I wore it. Do yourself a favor and snag one of these - you won't be disappointed.

        Super soft

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love the design of this balaclava, and the fabric is breathable, soft, and warm. Unfortunately the velcro strip at the top of my jacket started to destroy the fabric almost immediately. After half a day the area that contacted the velcro was starting to fuzz-up.

        My favorite in face coverage

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been using this balaclava for the last three seasons, and I have no complaints. Solid design and stretchable to fit almost any face/head type, while keeping you warm and dry. Can't go wrong with the anti odor coating either, the thing stays feeling fresh for longer than most face masks.

        The best in baclava!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The folks at Blackstrap designed a great facemask for any sort of ski day. Big fan of how this allows your head to still breath and get a little bit of air when you're skiing!

Must have on a cold day!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this thing. Really keeps me warm on those freezing cold days on the mountain and great protection from the wind. I love how it covers the whole head including ears for full protection. Super comfortable material as well and not itchy at all. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is spending a lot of time on the slopes!

The balaclava you are looking for

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've purchased two balaclavas before, and this one beats them by far, way warmer and covers more of the face. Not having a hole in the mouth area has not been a problem, no significant build up.
It would have been 5 stars but a friend made me try one with a "hard" mouth area and it felt better than having the fleece directly hitting your face.

Versatile head protection for the masses

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: one size
        • Height: 5'9"
        • Weight: 170lbs

I tried this out on account of B-Rabs advice (thanks Ben). Having been frustrated finding a face mask that would maintain its mold and not stretch when cold and wet, this mask was hopefully the answer. What I like about the design is it is sleek and fits under a helmet without the bulk. The face portion is versatile in that you can pull it down when your hot and don't need the face protection, and then throw it back up when you need it. It covers the bridge of the nose and the upper cheeks quite well and even tucks under goggles without all the extra bulk that reduces ability for a great seal. The only minute complaint I have is when I am huffing and puffing the material around the mouth just doesn't allow for the oxygen/gas exchange I need to catch my breath. Now this isn't really BS fault at all, because I pretty much have this problem with all face masks and balaclavas. Unfortunately it is what it is. This design also keeps my neck toasty even when I am sweating my &*% off! Colors; well you have your pick of the litter. There are dozens of color options that range from dope to extremely eccentric. There is pretty much a color pattern for all people, but as BRab pointed out to me, there are way more options on Backstraps direct site if you don't see what you like on BC.com. Lastly: Price point is on point. You can't complain about a face layer under 30. Like many of the other reviews would highly recommend this to you if in the market for some added face protection.

        Best mask I've owned

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Height: 6'0"
        • Weight: 145lbs

I finally got one of these after an entire season of my old one freezing up, and my face staying cold all day. I decided to get this because my my brother has one and said his is very warm and doesn't freeze. It is very comfortable, and when I took it out to the slopes, it kept me warm all day. It was 10 degrees at the base of the hill, and 0 at the top. The wind was blowing at 15 mph, and it was snowing, but my face stayed warm all day. It didn't even freeze up, like my face masks have done in the past. Definitely going to keep this around for a while.
