Red light good for tent but not for the woods
The headlamp is great but the red light intensity and beam distance is sub-par. It is only good in a tent, but the moment you walk out in the woods, you won't see the path in front of you. I suggest BlackDimond to change the design and put a bigger mirror around the red LED to make a 8-10m beam length and allow users to see when they walk at night.

Spot On!
Light, bright and comfy to wear. So many settings mean I have the perfect light for whatever the occasion. Picked up the BD1500 Battery & Charger for the longer life and fewer disposal batteries. Highly recommend!

Spot 400 headlamp
I had a very hard time trying to open the battery compartment. Had to use a flat head screwdriver to open it. After that, I have no problem. The headlight will get hot if you have it on super bright setting.

Quite nice headlamp with nuances
In terms of functionality, everything is fine, the brightness is easily adjusted, the modes are changed, it is good that the button is higher and now it is easy to find. Cons, the powertap is very sensitive, sometimes you just accidentally touch it from above and it has already switched. The plastic of the lens began to crack in the corners along with the black plastic around the lens which also began to crack, and the plastic of the strap attachment, small part where it attaches to the body, began to crack. You can still live with sensitive powertap, but the fastening of the strap needs to be repaired and can be critical.

I recently purchased a spot 400 headlamp, and after being satisfied with previous models, I was confident that this would be a great headlamp for home and camping. It was not. My first issue is, even with the lock on (so that it doesn't turn on , the lamp would drain batteries almost instantly. Literally every time I went to use it I needed to replace the batteries, I also tried several different brand AAA batteries thinking that possibly they were the culprit, same result every time. Secondly, this is a flimsy design which upon being dropped on a hard surface from my lap to the ground, the case that holds the batteries was damaged and now the batteries seem to not even stay in their place rendering the lamp completely useless. Very disappointed with the lack of quality and durability from what is supposed to be a very rugged brand. I contacted black diamond previously regarding a damaged lamp and was told that there is no warranty if purchased from a third party retailer, it any store that is not an official dealer. I highly recommend NOT purchasing any headlamps from this company

Simple with Great Features
A simple design with all the features you could want, my only complaint is the included instructions are very ambiguous; a youtube search gave me all the info I needed though.

Good with a couple distracting negatives
The led lights which show the battery level are WAY too bright! I shouldn't be able to see the glow streaking across my face and into my eyes when I shut the light off. It is about as bright as the lowest setting of the red light so when I am trying to preserve my night vision and get rid of light the blue comes blaring in without a choice ruining the experience. The feature to get to the brightest setting is too sensitive and useless. I have never been in a situation where I have needed to get to the brightest setting in an absolute instant. I find myself accidentally activating it when just trying to adjust my Headlamp in any manner which is frustrating and annoying especially when I don't want the brightest light. Overall the headlamp is good. I like the different modes and the versatility of lighting I can have through it. The head band is comfortable.

Love the versatility of using
Love the versatility of using both the AAA batteries or rechargeable battery when put on long treks. So far this has been a great product
