Black Diamond built this biner around their Magnetron Technology, pairing two magnetic arms in the gate with a steel insert in the keylock nose to create a closure that is redundant, self-clearing, and operable with either hand in any position.

The pear shape has been the standard for belay and anchor work for decades, and this version brings that proven geometry together with a gate that simply cannot be left unsecured. Whether you are building a multipitch anchor in wind or rappelling a wet wall at the end of a long day, the Magnetron does not ask much of you. The slightly curved spine keeps your belay device and belay loop positioned right where they should be, and at 87 grams you are not giving anything up to carry it.
