Why We Like The Black Diamond Notion SP Pant
We make our back-flags seamless with the Black Diamond Notion SP Pant-an organic cotton pant with just enough stretch for bouldering and sport climbing. On more technical climbs, the elastic cuffs keep pant legs secure around the ankle to hone in on knobby granite footholds and reinforced knees protect your skin from cheese-grater rock on less-than-graceful sequences. Once you've reached the chains and lowered, the comfort on the wall is matched on the ground—the Notion SP will make you feel like you're lounging in sweatpants between burns.

Love them so much
Loved my first pair so much that I came back for a second. They are incredibly comfy for everyday use… casual work attire, hiking, around the house, whatever. No issues on my end with seams splitting like other reviewers mentioned, and I have worked the first pair over quite a bit. I do wish they had a thigh pocket though, as my iPhone X doesn’t fit well into the back pocket. These are too warm for summer hiking for me, but great for cooler weather. I’m 110-115lbs, athletic, 5’2” and the XSmall fits perfectly.

Great pants !
This have been my all time favorite pants the only complaint I have is that they always tear along the back pockets and back seams. To be the price that they are I thought they would hold up better for bouldering .

Great quality, but too short
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

These pants are super comfortable and the quality is great, however they are several inches too short. This seems to be the case with most adventure pants, and it's super annoying. I live in MN and short pants in winter are not ideal. I wish these came in long or just were updated to be AT LEAST two inches longer.

I love these pants. I’m around 110lbs, 5’1”, athletic build, and the XS fit perfectly. The one thing I feel these pants are missing is a pocket on the thigh. These are terrific for hiking, and I’ve even worn them for work (very casual atmosphere). They are warm, so can be a tad uncomfortable in hot weather.

Best pants every for climbing
Best pants every for climbing at the gym! Super stretchy, comfortable, and not warm at all! I wish they had a higher waist to cover my belly button!

After 3 years still great!

I purchased these primarily for climbing indoors and outdoors. They still look brand new after three years, and I have nothing negative to say. They are extremely comfortable when climbing (especially for moves requiring a lot of flexibility in hips and knees), and are thick which makes them tear-resistant. Fyi, I had to size up. I'm 5'7, 135 lb, athletic build (very small waist with larger hips), and a medium was perfect. I would go up in size to prevent any issues, but that's generally the rule for climbing pants... the more room pants have= more flexibility = cooler moves = better climbing! The drawstring around the waist is super helpful for me. Harnesses fit great and nothing rubs. I'm very happy with these pants and would highly recommend!

Always tear after a few months

I’ve owned 6 or 7 pairs of these pants over the last few years, and they always tear at the seam right down the backside. I love them for climbing because they’re comfortable and don’t restrict movement.. but without fail they have all torn in the same spot within months of owning them. Black diamond jacked up the price within the last year, but the quality hasn’t improved. Based on poor durability, I can’t justify spending $100 on these. 5’2, 115#, size small for reference.

Own 4 Pairs

I just bought 2 more pairs of these pants after owning my previous ones for quite a few years. What I love most about these pants is how comfortable they are. I do not use them for rock climbing, but find that the triangular gusset makes gives them more movement. It allows me to easily sit cross legged without putting strain on the pants. Because they are cotton, the seams on thighs do wear down eventually if you are curvier and have general friction in that area. I ended up stabilizing mine with some mending and still wear them. I wear a size Large and have 46" hips.
