    Comfort is key.

It’s hard to listen to your friends teaching you how to gym climb when your feet feel scrunched worse than a ballerina’s. Black Diamond’s Momentum Climbing Shoe balances comfort with performance so you can learn how to climb comfortably. Most climbing shoes opt for leather or synthetic leather uppers to keep durable throughout your rocky adventures. Black Diamond, on the other hand, made this shoe’s upper out of a unique knit that enhances breathability without hindering overall durability. This enhanced breathability also decreases the foul smells that standard leather climbing shoes excrete in your car, closet, or wherever you store your climbing shoes. Since this isn’t a leather or synthetic leather climbing shoe, the Momentum shouldn't stretch as much as usual climbing shoes, and if this is your first pair of climbing shoes, you might want to consider getting this pair in your street shoe size even though your friends are telling you to size down. The NeoFriction rubber sole is also unique in that it’s molded—as opposed to the usual cutting from one sheet of rubber—to the shoe in order to increase longevity and ensure traction on greasy, plastic footholds.

    • Comfortable climbing shoe for beginners
    • Unique knit upper enhances breathability and decreases stretch
    • NeoFriection rubber molded onto upper for long-lasting traction
    • Flat last and low asymmetry assures all-day comfort

    Great beginner/intermediate shoe

I'm a 9.5/42.5 in La Sportiva and a 9 in evolv and the 9.5s fit me perfectly here. I usually prefer lace ups because it allows more adjustability and forgiveness for weirder feet but I'm happy here.

The rubber grips super well indoors (haven't tried them elsewhere), they breathe well, and are comfortable! They perform admirably on more technical climbs as well. They don't have much of an edge so not that aggressive.

      Shoes You Always Wanted

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Such a great comfortable pair of shoes, yet you're getting a whole lot of response back. They are true to size; I had tried a half size lower and was just way too tight. I love how easy it is to slip in and out of these, and "they got the Velcro". I am enjoying these as a gym shoe for the convenience and comfort, been hesitant about taking these on hard climbs outside. Of course these are great if you're hanging around a crag with all your buddies, but nothing for those hard routes you're looking to flash. Solid shoe all around!

      Great Gym Shoe

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've recently ruined my old climbing shoes and needed something solid for me to put through the wringer again. Very comfortable for a long gym day!

      Great Gym Shoe

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Momentum's have been a blast on everything at the gym. With breaking my foot recently and looking for a shoe that is less aggressive but just aggressive enough, they hit the ticket. Due to their construction, they wouldn't be the best suited in terms of durability for outdoor climbing. But who cares? They're an incredible neutral gym shoe for anyone!

Darker and Larger than they seem

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I own a pair in 12.5 and I got these for my brother. The photo doesn't quite do the shoe justice, the Black is darker, the Curry is darker, and the blue isn't so light, it's got that desired "manly touch..?" Awesome shoe for Gym, good venting, but the heel can get real sweaty. They fit smaller than you'd think, but stretch out half a size. Edging can be a bit of a challenge if you aren't cranking HARD but it'll all come together in the end. Comfy, and easily adjustable. The Velcro holds it's own and doesn't move around while climbing. Quite comfy, can hold a shape, and are easily washable! A simple shoe for a simple life....

      The perfect gym shoe

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Pretty good rubber on these bad babies, PLUS some wonderful velcro straps for your using pleasure. They are perfect as a nice gym shoe, with moderate outdoor ability. Wicked easy to pull on and off when you're taking a rest or studying the routes. I picked up my street shoe size (10.5) and they have been just dandy through the breaking in process.

      Great beginner shoe

If you are new to climbing these are the shoes for you. They are a moderate shoe with good rubber. They have a nice fit and the velcro straps make for an easy to get on shoe hence allowing you to slap that wall faster before all those laces have a chance.

        Great indoor climbing shoes!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was hesitant about Black Diamond shoes since they're new to the shoe game but I'm glad I got them! The toe box was really stiff at first but after the third use the shoes began to feel more comfortable around my feet. Performs well, indoor climbing 1-2 times a week. The neutral shoe allows me to wear them for hours without pain but snug enough that I don't slip off any toe holds.

        Great Climbing Shoe!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got myself a gym membership this week and snagged myself these BD climbing shoes. They have been really great so far! Im stoked for summer to come and to take them climbing outside here in Utah! These are perfect for the average climber. I usually wear a size 10.5 shoe, and the size 10 in these shoes work great.

        Awesome Shoe

I bought these shoes when I first was getting into climbing, and I am glad I decided to pay a little more, because these shoes have been amazing. I have had them for almost two years, and they are just getting to the end of their life. I have been using them two to four times a week. I probably could've taken better care of them when I first was getting outdoors, because I would just hike around in my climbing shoes. The shoe is Velcro, which makes them easy to get on and off. I like this so I can have a tighter shoe, for standing on really small foot holds, and they are perfect for when I'm in the gym climbing lots of routes really fast.

          Beginners best

I bought these for a friend that is just getting into climbing. They are very good for the climbing they are going to be put through. They have good rubber, not too aggressive, and the fit was nice and snug.

            SIZE UP!

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Awesome shoe but I had to re-order to get the right size. These do need to be a size bigger than street shoe. Great for smear and cracks and the velcro is easy to slip on.

            Everyday kinda shoe

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

An awesome neutral shoe by a company who knows what they're doing! Perfect for gym bigwall climbing in the moring, a couple bouldering problems after lunch, then out to the granite in the evening. I love the super durable rubber that'll keeping holding up thru an entire season.

The Perfect Climbing Shoe for Everybody

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Whether you're climbing indoor or outdoor, these shoes are great for all ability levels. They won't give you some of the benefits from a more aggressive shoe and are probably best suited for mellow routes, but your feet won't hate you after only a few minutes of wear. I can go all day in them as if nothing's on my feet.

            Comfy Gym Shoe

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I sized off my street shoe. I'm normally a 9.5 street shoe and that works perfectly for me. They are super comfy despite the fact my toes are a little curled, but not uncomfortably so. I can leave these shoes on for an entire gym sesh if I want to. Do NOT size these shoes down, they actually aren't designed to be sized down. I'll size down most of my sport/gym shoes for performance, but this is not a shoe to do that with.

For a $90 entry level shoe I have been really impressed with these shoes. While they're not going to compete with $150+ shoes in terms of precision, edging or being able to toe in on steep routes they get the job done at a great price. These have been my gym shoe for about a year now. They work just fine up to around: 11+ and ~V5.

            Great Starter Shoe

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have used these shoes all summer and I love them. You definitely want to go with your street shoe size or bigger. They do tend to run small. But other than that I have loved the shoes. They are very grippy and are durable. They do not really stretch out much from what I have seen but if you want to get a new shoe at a good price point check these out.

            Great for Gym Shoe!

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm 9.5 and I bought them 10.5, they were good for training and very comfortable. They run small but once you have the perfect size for your foot, you will have no problem. They are good for training in the gym. I do not think they are so good for Outdoor and Sport Climbing, but that is not in doubt that I am good at training and for the price.
