Black Diamond Focus Climbing Shoe

Focus Climbing Shoe

Sequential cruxes demand perfection. Your fingertips have to be perfectly aligned if they're going to grip the hold, in the same way that the Black Diamond Men's Focus Climbing Shoe's rubber needs to be perfectly aligned along the microscopic edge if you want to stay standing. Black Diamond designed this aggressive shoe for this kind of perfect precision, with a slight downturn that edges and grips on vertical to gently-overhung problems and routes. Medial and lateral stabilizer rands keep your foot solid when you're edging, and the single-molded NeoFriction rubber sole won't peel away in the same way that standard climbing shoes do. Black Diamond coupled the leather upper with a odor-reducing hemp liner and a knit tongue for amplified ventilation.

  • Slightly downturned climbing shoe for technical routes and problems

  • Single-molded NeoFriction Force rubber designed for edging
  • Leather upper stretches to conform to your foot shape

Great Shoe

I've put it through the wringer

These are great shoes. I have a normal foot, not too wide, not too skinny. I use size 10 street, and I use size 10 in these, they fit great. I use these shoes on about every type and angle of rock and they do pretty dang well. They shine on small feet and edging on vertical rock (they have a pretty rigid midsole). I've stuck em in a crack or two and they do pretty awesome, and I've taken em upside down and they stick pretty well. A great shoe for a climber that wants a more technical all arounder.

Tried and returned

I tried them, but ended up returning them because they rubbed the heel of my foot raw if I wore them for more than half an hour at a time. I haven’t had that issue with other shoes, but I don’t know if that is just me. Other than that they weren’t too bad. They were a bit snugger than I wanted, but not terrible—I wear a size thirteen street shoe and ordered a size thirteen. They definitely felt great on tiny holds—really firm with lots of support—but you won’t have any confidence trying anything close to a smear with them. If you’re wanting to burn some money on an edging specific shoe, these will do fine.
