The correct gear for Via Ferrata makes a world of difference!
1- Black Diamond is known for producing trusted quality gear 2- Easy to use (one hand), quick to clip/unclip and confidence inspiring when working exposed routes 3- Great stretch and length for clipping when needing to reach as well as short clips without excess length hooking a knee or needing a second grab 4- Dark colors that don't steal attention with a touch of orange where you want to see what is happening... main attachment loop, palm trigger and gate. 5- Some will prefer spending a little more for the spinner that eliminates any crossing or tangling. I chose the simplicity of less parts and check points for wear. Ultimately, I felt the simpler strands without spinner would be easy to manage and I have never felt that that the tethers have become too crossed over or twisted. 6- Some versions have a screw gate. For speed and simplicity, which can equate to more confidence and energy saving allowing one to focus better while in exposed situations, I highly recommend this model with the one-handed squeeze actuated carabiners. Fidgeting with screw gates over and over is absolutely pointless and easily eliminated with these squeeze carabiners. Don't cause yourself additional mental stress, time and opportunity to make a mistake or cut corners. Just get this the easy rider set. I have done many Via Ferrata routes using a PAS or leashes. Both are incredibly dangerous to use if you take a fall which can easily result in catastrophic failure and death. Using a PAS, leash or many other tethers (commonly used in rock climbing for static situations) can at a minimum be cumbersome and in the way, while ultimately being outright dangerous in a fall. Do yourself a favor and get the correct gear for the sport. More convenient and safer = better suited for better fun.

Easy Rider easier to use than the Iron Cruiser
We have five via ferratta sets (3 x Iron Cruiser, 2 x Easy Rider) and the Iron Cruisers are easier to manipulate, especially for smaller hands. If you plan to use them frequently, the Iron Cruisers are worth the extra investment.

Via Ferrata!
Weird that it was ‘not in stock’ given manufacture year was 2021 and was purchased 06/2023. Wished there were more colors to choose from to match gear setup. Like my ordered gear was all blue but this is orange. Haven’t tried it out yet I don’t question the quality.

So easy
We used this almost daily for 3 weeks in the Dolomites aka via ferrata heaven. Compared to the other lobster claws we carried around, this one was by far the easiest to use for clipping and unclipping. It does not have a swivel, but you get used to that quickly. It was also a bit heavier than one of the other sets, but the trade off in efficiently was worth it!

Easy to use
This set of Via Ferrata lanyards are incredibly easy to use. Gates open and close with ease. Resting carabiner loop is a nice addition.

So intuitive to use, you can forget it's there.
Exactly why I like the design/ execution. I don't want to be on a route & think constantly- or at all about any of the gear. It's gotta work flawlessly in the background to not detract from the experience. +1 for the Easy Rider Rig. (Decades of rock climbing Yosemite, High Sierra, etc. Via Ferratas are a fun "easy" day in the Dolomites).
