Why We Like The Black Diamond Dawn Patrol 32L Backpack

Prime for early morning backcountry excursions, the Dawn Patrol 32L backpack boasts an active, form-fitting suspension that moves with us when we're booking it back to the car so you aren't late for work. On longer days this pack carries snowboards vertically and skis diagonally or in an A-frame during bootpacks. A separate compartment stows avalanche safety gear, and the helmet carry tucks away during the descent.

32 Pack

I had a Dakine pack and finally switched over to BD. This pack fits all my needs and is perfect and light for backcountry Ski. The helmet carrier is an added bonus for the climbs and when you are hanging at the lodge for that mid ski run beer!!!

Great backpack for ski!

I love this backpack so much as I have a lot of stuff to carry with two kids. Customer service was great on giving me the better Black Friday deal

I have had these packs before they are great. Wish they still had the camo pack.

Loving it so far

The pack is extremely lightweight and well built. The shoulder strap pocket is such a great idea. I haven't used it yet but I have loaded it up with all of my touring gear and it all fits nicely. Great ergonomics. Be careful about sizing. A s/m 32L is actually only 30L.

Awesome Pack

Though this pack is geared mainly towards skiing/snowboarding, I do neither, and I use it mainly for big winter alpine hikes. The board/ski attachment straps work just as well for snowshoes. It's very comfortable, super roomy, and has great pockets. My other 30L Osprey pack somehow feels much smaller by comparison. I love the hip belt pockets, which I usually fill with snacks, gloves, headlamp, and my inReach. It distributes weight nicely. The helmet pouch is great. The insulated shoulder pocket is a nice touch. I typically avoid using a bladder when the temps drop below freezing so the hose doesn't freeze, but I suspect this will provide some more flexibility, plus, you can stash other gear in here, too. The only features I wish it had were compression straps on the bottom of the pack, some additional attachment loops or a daisy chain, and dog bones for the ice axe (another review mentioned that it lacked a place for an axe altogether--this is not true, there is an dual-sided attachment system on the bottom, but it lacks the ability to lock them in place as with the dog bone style systems. You could also use the loop for a single axe). Overall, though, it's one of the best I've found, and I look forward to many outings with it this winter.

Awesome back pack. Seems to

Awesome back pack. Seems to have all the bells and whistles. The 32L seems to be the perfect size. In the main pocket alone I was able to fit a two person tent and sleeping pad in the pack with some room left over for clothes and other gear. That being said, the pack doesn’t look too big or bulk so really just a great size.

Dawn Patrol

Pack was comfortable, liked the hydration option and radio just fits though with it would have been nice to have access with one side radio one side hydration. Would be nice to access the main pack from the top . Just have to get used to fully opening bag on back to access . The shovel probe slots were good but non of them held my saw well it just falls through to bottom. All around great bag for price
