The Navis Freebird Ski w/ Touring Skins climbs easy, descends with conviction

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I toured a long approach on the Navis Freebird Ski w/ Touring Skins and noticed the weight savings right away on the skin track. Once I dropped into the descent, the refined tip and new sidecut gave me a decisive, carve-first feel I wasn't expecting from a touring setup."

Black Crows built the Navis Freebird Ski w/ Touring Skins for the tourer who climbs with one goal in mind, a descent worth the effort. A 104mm waist gives it solid float without sacrificing efficiency, while a refined tip and 21-meter sidecut radius add a more committed, alpine-style feel to every turn on the way down. Progressive front rocker paired with an early-rise tail keeps the ski maneuverable in variable snow, and classic medium camber underfoot holds a confident edge once you're carving with intent.

A poplar and paulownia core keeps the swing weight manageable across long days, while carbon and fiberglass laminates add torsional stiffness without piling on grams. A titanal plate under the binding zone improves screw retention and stability for hybrid touring setups, and semi-cap construction with a partial cap tip shaves further weight where it counts. The included Navis Pilus skins use a hooking system with a notched tip and tail that trims their length by roughly 20cm, cutting real weight without complicating the climb.
