The Big Agnes Torchlight collection consists of unique, expandable sleeping bags, and the UL 20 Sleeping Bag is a lighter version of the warmest Torchlight. Dual zippers expand the bag by about five inches to accommodate different clothes for different conditions. Slide the zippers down for extra room for wearing layers, and slide them back up to keep snug in summer clothing. Big Agnes made this bag lighter, packable, and more protective for alpine environments. Its 850-fill down insulation is the lightest, most compressible down that Big Agnes uses, and Big Agnes treated the down to retain its lofty warmth in wetter environments.

Best New Sleeping Bag On The Market
- Familiarity:

My wife and I both purchased the Big Agnes Torchlight UL 20 to replace our older / uncomfortable down sleeping bags. WE LOVE THEM. We've had them out on several multi-night trips in the Rockies. Most recently, we used them in the Flat Tops in Northwestern, CO. We had a lot of rain and there was quite a bit of dew in the early morning. Even though we woke up to some moisture in our tent the hydrophobic down that BA uses in these bags lives up to the hype! It's nice to FINALLY see hydrophobic down that performs as advertised. I love how versatile this bag is. I'm a 6'1". 200lb side sleeper and the regular size worked just fine for me. It's nice to see a brand doing something innovative in the sleeping bag market. We purchased the 20-degree version and it's more than warm enough for three-season camping in the Rockies. I'm a hot sleeper, but I plan on using this bag for winter camping as well. The material feels top-notch and is super comfy to sleep in. When I slept in my old bag the material always felt a little sticky against my skin. Perhaps my biggest praise to the torchlight is how well the zippers function. I don't think I have ever owned a sleeping bag where the zippers don't get stuck every time I try to get out of my bag in the middle of the night. I didn't experience any snagging throughout any of our trips. The versatility is why I ultimately went with the Torchlight which also lives up to the hype. I slept great all night with the zippers wide open. When temps get a little colder, I'll be able to zip it up and use it as more of a mummy-style bag to conserve heat. It's hard to beat 850 down fill. It packs up nice and small and we didn't have any issues with the bag re-gaining loft after being compressed for a few days. My only con is that while it does come with a small stuff sack that's easy to use, I like to carry my sleeping bags in a waterproof compression sack in case things get soggy. A compression sack is not included. Do yourself a favor and if you're in the market for a new sleeping bag that's made with great materials and stellar attention to detail, give the Torchlight series some serious consideration! Now I can finally get all of my old down sleeping bags out of the gear closet!

Got this bag for a bike-packing trip in the Himalayas. The bag was light, warm and best of all I was able to spread out at warmer temps and then make the bag into more of a mummy bag at higher elevation when the temp dropped below freezing. I would 100% recommend. I love the innovative design, not sure if other brands make expandable bags but regardless this is sick.
