A quilt fit for a king.

We think you'll use the Big Agnes Kings Canyon UL Quilt a lot more than just when you're camping or backpacking. Sure, it's ultralight design clearly makes it worthy of any summer adventure, but PrimaLoft Silver insulation is so soft that you'll want it at chilly music festivals, picnics, and even on your own couch. Pair this water-resistant insulation with an equally soft and silky lining, and you're really in for a treat with the Kings Canyon. Big Agnes built the shell out of a smooth-yet-durable Pertex ripstop, and the quilt also features a small pocket for your sleeping pad and a shock cord with six webbing loops for lacing the sides together on colder nights.

    Great Piece of Gear

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This blanket is light and packs small. It has been great for handing out at home, sitting next to a camp fire for an extra bit of warmth and saved me on a recent trip to Moab when my sleeping bag/pad combo wasn't enough. It was also really nice for the flight home. Looking forward to more adventures with this in my bag!

    awesome for hut trips

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This has been a lifechanger for trips to the tenth mountain huts in colorado-- the huts are usually pretty warm (30-50 degrees) with body heat and the wood stove, and so the quilt is perfect. I wouldn't want it if it was any colder, but going to sleep around 50 is perfect, and then if it cools off during the night as the stove burns down, I just throw on my puffy and I'm perfect. It's also so nice to wrap up in for breakfast, and takes up the space of a large grapefruit in my pack!
My only issue is that I have to coil the string, since I use it sometimes but not always.

    Love it

Went to Yosemite in late spring, brought my sleeping bag but ended up just using this(upper 50s). Kept me warm. The bottom sleeves fits perfectly into my sleeping pad. Haven't tried it out in colder temps yet but I plan on using it over my sleeping bag. You can insert your sleeping pad inside the sleeve, cinch it down over your sleeping bag and it will secure you onto the sleeping bag so you won't roll off your pad if you don't have the Big Agnes sleep system. I imagine it will add another 10-15 degrees of warmth

Big Agnes Kings Canyon UL Quilt

This ultralight quilt goes wherever you go. Packing small and weighing in at 1lb, it'll be the envy on road trips, desert camp outs, music festivals and spontaneous couch surfing sessions. The perfect companion for wherever you may lay your head. Insulated with PrimaLoft® Silver and hiding a discrete pad sleeve, this is a warm, technical piece that you'll never forget at home.

    Perfect overquilt

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought this to pair with my Jacks r Better high sierra sniveller quilt. I have Raynaud's which means blood doesn't get to my hands and feet very efficiently, and I run way colder than most people. These two quilts together worked well in 30 degree conditions with my Exped Downmat, along with wool base layers and down pants, jacket and booties.

The nice thing about this quilt is that my 25" pad fits inside the envelope. I tuck my pad into that with my down quilt underneath the King's Canyon. With the two quilts tied together at the tabs, my down quilt is held secure in place and gains extra wind protection and warmth. The King's Canyon does not add too much weight so my down quilt stayed plenty fluffy. I also didn't have to worry about condensation dripping on my down bag since this was on top. It's thin enough I didn't have to pack the two quilts separately. Just rolled them together and stuffed into a a dry bag.

    Light weight and surprisingly warm.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

After years of suffering in mummy style bags, I finally discovered the wonder that is a quilt. I'm a side/stomach sleeper who tosses and turns a lot, so mummy bags inevitably get twisted up in odd ways, making sleep difficult. The quilt is large enough that even tossing and turning under it doesn't get drafty or constricting. I've used it from the 60's down into the 40's. On it's own, it's toasty to around 50, and comfortable down around 45. You can extend it even further by pairing it with a jacket so you don't have to sacrifice the comfort of a quilt. I'm a very warm sleeper, so your mileage may vary.

    A great summer quilt

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Very light, very compact. When I first opened it it seemed so gossamer I thought if this keeps me warm at 55 then it is made by elves. It is not made by elves. I've tried it in lower 50's temp and mid 50's with Smartwool 250 base layers, socks and hat and I still woke up repeatedly cold. But I'm female and a cold sleeper. I like it for upper 60's + temp- then it's great.
It packs tiny and I don't always use the stuff sack I just smoosh it in the bottom of my bag. It's my first quilt and I love the design, fantastic for a side sleeper even when it's attached under your pad.

Great quilt for a large guy

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this quilt as an option for a big guy. I am 5'10 and 280lbs. This quilt works perfectly. It's very light weight, packs up small and is perfect for Florida backpacking. I am using it with my hammock and it keeps me warm when I need it to. great quilt for the money

Is the 45 degree temperature rating an EN comfort or lower limit rating or something else?

The 45 degree rating will not be a EN comfort or lower limit rating. Since this is a quilt it is unable to be tested to those standards that mummy bags are tests.

This rating is based on Big Agnes and their thoughts towards the product and quantity of insulation.

If you're aiming to use it down to 45 degrees, I'd definitely take time to make sure you're pairing it with the right sleeping pad.
