    A sound night's sleep.

Sleeping in a 0-degree sleeping bag when it's a balmy forty degrees outside can leave you a hot and sweaty mess. The Basin and Range La Sal 30 Degree Down Sleeping Bag is ideal for those warm summer backpacking trips in the mountains and shoulder season escapes to the desert. The La Sal's 650-fill down is sourced from Responsible Down Standard certified waterfowl, so you can sleep easy knowing that live-plucking and force-feeding weren't involved, and it's been treated with a water-resistant finish to protect the feathers from clumping when confronted with moisture. And if that wasn't enough, the ripstop exterior is treated with an additional DWR for added resiliency from from wet and soggy conditions. Like other bags in the La Sal line, this 30-degree option features a multi-baffle hood, mummy shape, and draft tube to ensure a thermal-efficient design when the temperatures drop in the early hours of the morning.

Decent but not as warm as I hoped

The bag is lightweight and compresses well in a backpack. It is not as warm as I hoped. I’ve been using it for a two month backpacking trip and have had to buy a sleeping bag liner to add extra warmth if the wether is ever even near freezing. I’d say it is really only a summer bag.

      Amazing Deal

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this sleeping bag to use on summer camping and backpacking trips. I am an average sized woman and this bag fits me comfortably. It kept me warm through the night and I didn't wake up with my usual cold feet. This isn't the lightest bag out there, but it does compress nicely, and it's great quality for the price! I would definitely recommend this to any casual campers and backpackers out there.

      Great, light-weight bag

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I took this sleeping bag on a backpacking overnighter with a family member recently. While I was not the one to sleep in it, I can vouch for the fact that this bag is lightweight and packs down quite small. It was great for carrying 3.5 miles up a mountain. The material on the bag is different from other mummy bags I have used in the past. It seems to be more tear-resistant and durable. The sleeping bag can zip from the bottom and the top, making it possible to unzip near the feet in the night to cool down. I was impressed by the quality of this bag and feel it is a great option for an affordable down sleeping bag for warmer camping trips.

Great bag at a great price

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I recently had the chance to try out this bag on a trip to the City of Rock in Idaho. I was happy to have a chance to try this because a few days prior to the trip, I saw temps were going to be in the 40s and was worried my personal 20 degree bag would be too warm. Well temps only got down to the lower 60s at night and with this bag, initially fully zipped, I was quite warm. However, I unzipped it all the way down and found it much more comfortable and had a great night's sleep. When in a stuff sack, it packs nice and small and since Basin and Range partnered with a reputable company to get these made, the quality is high. Definitely a good deal for the price!

      Great Bag for the Price

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have only used this bag for a couple of nights but I really like it. There are not many quality 30 degree down bags under $200. This is one of them. They quality of the bag is really good. I like that the shoulder circumference is 62 inches which provides a little more room that some other bags on the market. It stuffs small for the 650 fill bag. The full length zipper helps a lot in regulating your temperature. I haven't used it down to its limit but I think it will be comfortable down to the mid 30's without an issue.

      Great summer bag!

I used this bag on a camping trip in July at about 8000 feet and it was the perfect weight for a trip like this. Kept me warm at night, was nice and lightweight, but not too hot. A great value too, BC partnered with a supplier who knows how to make great tents for this project.
