    Wolverine Cirque Insulated Vest

Dubbed “Wolvie” by the locals, Wolverine Cirque is an iconic backcountry skiing location nestled between two of Utah’s world-renowned resorts. This small cirque boasts 16 of the steepest, tightest chutes in the Wasatch Range, and—as Backcountry Gearheads—we take it upon ourselves to ski as many as possible as often as possible before work. In order to accommodate skiers who, like us, are always pushing for more, we made a collection of technically advanced, performance-oriented, and backcountry-specific ski clothing. The Wolverine Cirque Insulated Vest contributes to the collection as our go-to insulator for highly aerobic activities like boot packing, skinning, and skiing as much as possible on a given dawn patrol.

A hybrid insulator, the Wolverine Cirque Vest is a combination of weather-resistant materials, moisture-managing fleece panels, and an innovative insulation boasting incredible breathability and stretch. Unlike standard synthetic insulators, 3DeFX+ insulation mirrors your every movement to maintain warmth and eliminate the chance of cold spots appearing overtime. Insulation this innovative deserves an equally innovative shell, so we used a stretch-woven material with a water-resistant treatment and fleece paneling to wick moisture in spots you’re most likely to sweat, contributing to a dry microclimate from the inside out.

NOT TRUE TO SIZE! Runs small...way small

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XXL
    • Height: 6'
    • Weight: 260lbs

Was looking forward the hooded vest. Very dissappointed in fit, ordered XXL, felt like a large of many other popular brands. Skin tight. Returned and ordered a North Face vest XL, it is great, maybe even slightly big

    great vest!!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: large
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 185lbs

The fit is slim but after wearing it feels like part of you, dont even realize you have it on. Love the pockets, the neck gaiter and special the hood being mostly fleece very discrete. I have been wearing in the northeast since the day i got it.. great work backcountry.. Now i am wondering what the full zip Wolverine Cirque Insulated jacket is like..

    Perfect for cool spring days

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 150lbs

First of all I'm really impressed with the quality of this vest. The material and stitching looks to be of high quality. This vest is also slightly warmer than my others which for those cooler spring and fall days it's perfect. It's also my only vest that had a hood which is nice when the rain comes down unexpectedly. The vest fits true to size with me wearing a medium and I'm 5'10" 150 lbs.

    great all around item!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 160lbs

M fits perfect 5'9 160lb. Great layer for belaying or skinning. Would definitely recommend!

    Great!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

This vest is an awesome addition to your closet. It is a great staple for the shoulder season where you just need something light to layer up. Ladies! I went with a men's because I like the colors better... Going down a size worked perfectly. It's just a slightly boxier fit.

    Absolutely Essential

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 168lbs

If I could only have 15 pieces of my clothing, I mean 15 total, out of all the sport, technical and casual clothing I own, this vest is one of the first pieces I'd grab. It is that good.

    Master of Snow Travel

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 135lbs

This vest was aptly named for the Wolverine Cirque zone in the Wasatch Mountains, but I like to think that this vest gives you abilities of a wolverine - the mammal not the Marvel character! Largest of the weasel family and master of snow travel the wolverine can travel up to 15 miles across the snow in a single day. Imagine how far they would go if they could ski tour!

In all seriousness, this vest is pretty perfect for touring. I like to keep my heart rate elevated and my core warm. I like to wear a long-sleeve baselayer with this vest. I am able to dump excess heat from my arms and don't overheat, but even on really cold days I never lose my critical core heat if I have this vest on. The 40D nylon is very resilient and the DWR keeps the vest dry even when snow is coming down fast. When you get to the top of your zone, just throw a shell over this and you'll be good to go almost every day. I still carry a Nano-Puff with me for the days it gets really cold.

    What a Vest!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 205lbs

My ultimate layer for every adventure. I freaking loooooove this thing! Merino base layer, this bad larry and my shell.... Set for any condition. I do run hot though so that is a factor. Also love how the hood and collar are stretch fleece, I normally hate having a hood on a layering piece because it gets in the way with my shell hood but the collar and hood sit flush underneath my shell and work as a good layer under my helmet if it's a little colder out than normal. This vest is also very stylish and you can wear it to the bars or in the city after a day of shredding the gnar gnar with the pals. Definitely going to be using the crap out of this vest in the coming years.

    Sleeveless Style!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 195lbs

I was never a fan of wearing insulated vests until I found the Wolverine Cirque. The material is breathable and almost feels like it has an absorbent aspect to it.
The style of insulation really drew me due to how warm it stays, but doesn't have the puffy look of other vests.

    A great inVESTment

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: M
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I got this vest for my boyfriend and it has been a staple in his ski attire layering. Great to add a little extra warmth to the core during resort skiing or as a light, breathable piece for touring.

    Who Needs Sleeves?

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 165lbs

A relatively new addition to the current stockpile of layering pieces, the Wolverine Cirque Insulated Vest has been a go-to for early morning tours and not-so-frigid days on the hill. Perfect for the ascent, it breathes well, wicks moisture so you're not dripping in sweat once you reach the top, and the hood is perfect for blocking the wind/elements. At 5'8" and roughly 165 lbs, the medium fits perfectly. Though I'd prefer another couple inches of length, it falls just below the belt line for a solid, not bulky fit. The material is lightweight, breathable, and dries quickly. A solid choice to say the least.

What's the difference in fit between a size Small and Medium? How snug would either size be layered over a half-zip like a Medium Patagonia R1?
