Why We Built The Backcountry Teo ALLIED Down Jacket

Whether we're storm shredding from our favorite lifts or accessing fresh powder from the skintrack, we built the Teo ALLIED Down Jacket to keep us out there on cold days. We designed this puffy with 800-fill ALLIED RDS-certified down that's responsibly sourced, incredibly warm, and so packable that this whole jacket stuffs into the internal chest pocket for easy storage in our touring packs. It has a water-resistant, windproof material that protects us on exposed ridgetops as we rip off our skins for the descent.

Weak hardware

Purchased for my wife. It looked like it was going to be great - lightweight, stylish, warm - but on the first light pull of the hood cinch, it snapped. It looked like it may have been previously repaired using a bit of scrap fabric from the jacket tying the two sections of the draw-cord together. Kind of weird. We returned it in favor of a similar Rab coat that looked just as good and was better constructed.

I loved the jacket. It is light but warm, the color is bright, I got two - the yellow finch and the Ermine. It is compact and water resistant. Great layering piece. The only bummer is that it is shorter than all my other jackets (Patagonia, HH) and I was disappointed. I prefer more coverage - it feels cozier. But I guess I still liked it enough to buy two - the sale price was too appealing. Just beware about the length of the jacket if this is something that is important to you.

This jacket was just what I was looking for: super light, warm and looks great. I was worried about the hybrid fill, but it totally works…plus it’s the color of melted cheddar cheese.

I love this jacket so much I had to hop on here to write a review. I was looking for something that packed down small but was a bit warmer than a nanopuff for extra cold days on the trail and winter hikes above treeline, and this jacket hit the mark perfectly. In fact, I like it so much that it's become my everyday winter jacket. I don't know how they did it, but they managed to make a jacket that feels light as air, keeps me warm down into below freezing temps (like, I wore it in the polar vortex), and isn't heavy enough that I overheat when hiking up mountains or walking around in stores. It's like magic. Also, I love the Ermine color - it's so cheerful and fun and bright. I did size up from my usual size XL to a XXL and I'm glad I did - I have broad shoulders and it gives me plenty of room to throw on my heaviest sweaters and chunkiest fleeces and still be able to swing my arms freely and feel comfortable.

Love it!

Bought this jacket in a size Large in the Ermine/Yellow color for a great price just before Christmas. I bought a size larger than I would normally wear because I wanted to be able to pull this out of my pack to keep me warm during lunch stops while XC skiing and needed it to fit on top of another jacket or two. (Photo shows this jacket on top of several layers including another down layer and a shell.) This jacket packs down easily and is lightweight and water resistant, but most importantly is comfy, cozy! Love it! In fact, I love it so much I'm buying a second one in my actual size, Medium. (I'm 5'4" and 145lbs. Wear a size 8 pant. The Large is definitely too big to fit properly on its own but is perfect for my intended use.)

I needed a jacket to keep me warm but not overheated playing outside in the snow with my grandson and this is perfect. It's amazing how warm it is for being so lightweight, but also breathable and water resistant rolling in the snow or in drizzle. I like that the zipper goes high enough to cover my neck, and the sleeves and waist are snug enough to avoid air drafts. I wore this over a fleece top and it fit perfectly. I've been wearing it with temps high 20's/low 30's but I think it would be fine a bit outside that range also.

Great except shoulders

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Fits great - true to size. Warm except the shoulder area. That is one area that has no baffles so it must have primaloft. The other primaloft areas (hood, wrists, lower back) are all warm, but the shoulder area is cold. I have used it in 30-40 degree weather. Shoulders cold each time.
