Why We Built The Backcountry Cardiac GORE-TEX PRO Jacket

"When I'm on the skin track, I get warm, so the allover vents are a huge bonus. There are two front zippers: one with perforations to let air in without unzipping the whole shell." —Gearhead® Expert Sammy

Back for another year with some slight tweaks to further improve performance, the Backcountry Cardiac GORE-TEX PRO Jacket provides plenty of coverage for backcountry missions. Named after a popular backcountry zone, this jacket combines a GORE-TEX PRO laminate with a durable nylon face fabric to help us confidently move across the skin track and bushwhack to remote zones while remaining covered from unpredictable weather. Toss in the underarm vents that dump excess heat, large chest pockets to help melt snow off of our skins while we ski, and a helmet-compatible hood to block out cold winds, and we have a jacket we can trust on any adventure.

  • Ski and snowboard jacket designed for movement in the backcountry
  • 3-layer GORE-TEX PRO shell offers durable, breathable waterproofing
  • Underarm zips dump excess heat while you navigate the skin track
  • Helmet-compatible hood traps extra heat and blocks out blowing snow
  • Waterproof front zipper is easy to operate while wearing gloves
  • Powder skirt prevents blower snow from spraying up into your layers
  • RECCO reflector aids search and rescue in emergency situations

Nice jacket with minor complains

I've used it several times
Size Bought:

I have used this jacket about 5 times now. I have been in wet snow in backcountry in OR and it held up well. I like the fact that the front has an option to zip it up with ventilation. Two minor complaints are that pit vents don't have mesh which I prefer, and that the powder skirt doesn't connect - you cannot button it. Otherwise a solid jacket.

Vents Galore

The double zipper is such an amazing feature. It's so helpful when you're over heating on the uphill or just ripping groomers on a warm day. The pockets are great, the colors are stunning, and the pass pocket is a nice addition.

In love with this set! The colors are SO good in person! The jacket fit a little big, so I would pick the smaller size if you’re between sizes. The matching bibs ran even bigger so for sure size down.

Perfect Fit and Function

I've used it several times

Wow. So stoked on this kit already!! The material, the fit, the function, and even the colors are spot on. I was a little nervous about how bright that orange might be but it’s sooooo fire. The combo with the pink is perfection (and this is coming from a girl who usually wears all black). Fashion aside let’s talk the important part - function. I’m definitely confident wearing this in any condition, especially with good layering options. I kid you not - I stood under a waterfall in this and was still dry inside. So 100% that goretex is solid. Also love the fit options. I’m 5’7” 145lbs, usually wear a 4/6 (27/28) pant, or medium shirt (I have a broader chest 36/38) depending on the brand, and the mediums are a really cute fit while the large is a perfect freeride/baggy fit. I appreciate that they added length, not just width, to the larger size too, so the proportions are always spot on. Long story short - obsessed.
