We developed the Cardiac GORE-TEX PRO Jacket as the most essential piece of our microclimate for chasing powdery forecasts and ticking summit missions off our hitlist. The 3L GORE-TEX PRO laminate provides cutting-edge waterproof technology that's also incredibly breathable, letting us push onwards in the backcountry when the storm rolls in. We designed it with two front zippers, one traditional zip that shuts out the elements and another full-length zipper that exposes laser-cut perforations that provide airflow while maintaining the jacket's shape.

Cardiac jacket fits perfect with the cardiac bibs. Ive put the jacket through the wringer, 120+ days this winter and can last hundreds of more days

Amazing Shell

Now, I will admit I didn’t purchase this for skiing or snowboarding but did purchase it for extreme weather hiking and camping. My first opportunity to use this shell was on an early spring photography trip in Ireland. The shell was exactly what I expected. It kept me dry to include the pockets that I stowed my gloves, beanie and extra camera batteries in. I experienced strong coastal winds with rain and misting from the beaches. I was extremely happy with how well I stayed warm and dry. When I didn’t have rain or sleet, I was able to use the inner arm zippers and the additional front zipper to help ventilate as I hiked and it worked well. I know this wasn’t its intended purpose but the little lens cloth in the upper left pocket that the jacket comes with was a life saver while photographing in the extreme inclement weather. What a nice surprise. For me backcountry did a great job with the shell.

Beautiful workmanship , terrible fit

So this jacket workmanship is beautiful, with a lot of high tech trims - cohaesive cord stopper, perforated plackets at center front... But the fit ruins everything good about it; I am 6'1 @ 170lbs with long arms ( MT in wetsuit size ). It is basically short & square, with way too much room in the short sleeves. Sleeves are not tapered at all, so cuffs are really wide, and the cuff tabs adjuster don't work because the female velcro part is too short, which limits how tight you can close the cuffs. That combined with the fact that there is no hand lycra gaitors means you will fill up with snow at every crash. I really wanted to like the jacket, but it is not workable for my body type.

I ordered the cold brew and black colorway of this jacket and I really love it! Was very impressed with the quality of it and its gore-tex pro so this jacket literally can handle anything. Kept me warm at the mountain the whole time I was there and would order this jacket again in a different color way if they had more options! 100% would recommend this jacket!

This thing is bulletproof. Can handle everything from utah dry pow to east coast wet snow/rain with no leakage. THe dual zippers for venting are rad, although i do agree that with such large pit vents some mesh might be a nice touch to prevent snow from getting in during a crash. Also agreed that i miss the cuffs featured on other BC jackets (i hate stuffing my gloves inside cuffs), but to each their own there. Fit is nice and loose for layering underneath without being too baggy.

I ordered the cardiac shell jacket after a wonderful experience with my Cardiac Bib last season. I have returned due to fit reasons (strange body...) but the quality is impressive. The feature of the zipper with the little dots to vent may seem overkill at first, but I think it's brilliant! One thing I missed was wrist gaiters/cuffs; Another thing that I'd change is putting a mesh in the vents (as sometimes accidents happen and snow comes in) Wish I could have gotten the Medium in Orange...maybe I'd have kept it despite the fit. Backcountry is doing impressive work on its brand and I'm a happy customer!

The pockets are huge in the chest area. The pass pocket in the sleeve makes it easy to bounce through the lift line.. I ran through some tight trees and no rips of any kind.. tuff jacket.I had many complaints on the jacket from many lifties… only down fall is the light color stains kinda easy… I dig the lens cleaner that is attached to the left chest pocket comes in very handy.. needs to be a little bigger I feel… but I like it so much I bought a second jacket but the darker cold brew color…
