Superlight backcountry safety.
When it comes to backcountry safety, you want to be efficient and fast with your avalanche gear, which makes the fast, efficient, and lightweight Backcountry Access Stealth 300 Carbon Probe a trifecta of sorts. Its Quick-Lock is both speedy and easy to use with a notch that deploys the probe instantaneously and tucks inside the first probe section to reduce space for compact convenience. Depth markings assist with measuring depth when you're studying snow, and the pole's carbon construction shaves off a few ounces to help you bound backcountry terrain a little easier.

Good Probe but Doesn't Fit BD Pack
Got this probe before I purchased the latest version of the Black Diamond Dawn Patrol pack in the largest 32L size. Well unfortunately the probe barely fits in the pack, to the point where I have to put a lot of stress on the pack to get it in there. Its light and I like it a lot but I will need to purchase a new probe that fits better. Don't purchase if you plan on getting a BD Dawn Patrol pack.
The best tool for the job.
It's crazy how light this probe is. It's a bit longer than my other probe, and barely fits in my backpack, but I'm really happy it does. The deployment is so quick and easy---really relieves me when I'm studying about avalanche rescue.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Easy to use and very strong! Also maximizing length without gaining weight. It's been a perfect addition to my lightweight pack without compromising function!
Long and light
For the length of this probe, it is incredibly light. Super easy extension with the pull tab and the lock seems bulletproof. Also pretty fun to practice opening it (I would not recommend the living room)
Could someone please help me out with the diameter of the shaft of this probe? The older BCA carbons were only 10mm, and I want 12mm minimum. Otherwise this seems pretty decent. Thanks!
