Why We Like The Astral Hiyak Kayak Shoe

The Astral Men's Hiyak Kayak Shoe is lighter, more durable, and faster-drying than traditional neoprene booties, not to mention grippier and more stable. The abrasion-resistant, water-repelling canvas upper is far more durable than neoprene, and it's bonded directly to the G.ss outsole for enhanced stability. Airmesh insulation, like neoprene, traps air between your foot and the outside to keep feet warm. But unlike neoprene, it dries overnight, so it's ready to go again the next day.

  • Neoprene-free paddling bootie for extra warmth, stability, and comfort
  • Hydrophobic canvas uppers offer water protection and durability
  • Hidden laces protected by hook-and-loop cover
  • Removable EVA foam midsole cushions feet
  • G.ss rubber compound drains moisture and grips slippery surfaces
  • Whole sizes only; half-sizes should size up for best fit

Trusted river shoes

I've put it through the wringer

These river shoes are some of my most trusted and favorite gear. I?ve worn them on overnight kayaking expeditions for days as my only foot gear. They double well when you are packing minimal for hiking/canyoning on a kayak trip. The sticky soles work well for portaging rocky river banks. I sized up for wearing over drysuit socks in the winter, but with lacing I can wear them in the summer as well. They dry/drain well-no river funk. This is my second pair- after 6 years, the sole was a little worn and a few seams opened but they were still wearable. Super good value.
