Why We Like The Finder GV Hiking Boot

We often find ourselves on new trails with the Finder GV Hiking Boot guiding our way. This boot wasn't built for the same old adventures. Rather, Asolo intended for it to travel on technical, unexplored terrain in any season. The GORE-TEX membrane defends against snowy trails in wintertime and still feels comfortably breathable on hot summer hikes. Underfoot, the Duo Radiant sole uses Vibram's MegaGrip rubber compound to ensure solid traction on slippery trails.

Perfect fit

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Back in the day, i had purchased Asolo hiking boots for a Sierra Club backpacking trip of about 60 miles in a 10 day high Sierra trip. I was a photo nut and brought too much gear. A small aluminum case with 4 lenses and a tri pod so i could make for a stable 7' high shot. Then you got 70lbs commissary gear to take of food and such on top of your own gear. One of us got helicoptered out. I had a sports background of training, you never cheap out on your feet. It's the base of your endurance. Today i use another brand from Asolo for major yard work and thought i would get another pair since these are quite old, 45 or so years. Asolo generally are a pricey brand. In the last decade or so i have gotten into Keens as my overall solid shoe brand. They are good but Asolo is superior so i thought i would treat myself to the ultimate best. I actually picked up new Keen boots along with a Asolo boot pair. Haven't gone on a hike or shoveled some dirt with them but just putting them on in the house making sure the fit is right. Asolo just knows what the foot really wants. Superior fit and comfort by far.

Runs tight

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

Nicely made but unusually tight in the toe box. Had to send them back right out of the box.

Previously I had the Asolo GTX boots. They lasted through some rough terrain. These have a spot pealing off the sole after 4 wears.

Light weight, very supportive, great fit, good traction. Importantly, I do not feel the points of sharp rocks when stepping on them. I have only about 20 miles on them so can’t discuss longevity.

I bought these about a week before our 2 week trip to Yellowstone, Glacier and Grand Tetons National Park. They were great for the most part. I broke them in wearing them at work throughout the week prior to leaving. I loved the way they looked and felt, but towards the end of the trip they did start getting uncomfortable. Now, I needed to lose about 40lbs before the trip and we hadn't done that much on your feet activity in a 2 week span in a while. The only reason, I was reluctant on giving a 5 star rating, was I believe they cheaped out on the most pivotal buckle of the boot, which is the transition to go up the leg. Other than that it performed well.
