After two pair of Lone Peak All WTHR, I really wanted these to fit. Despite being 12 USA Medium, same as the Lone Peak... they were tight mid foot. Toe box was tighter but workable, mid foot, as another reviewer mentioned is just too tight for comfort yet the heal area loose. How can an original fit be so different? Construction looks amazingly good but for a much different foot than mine

Hot feet!
These shoes are hot! My feet burn up in them. Not sure why. I have heard others say the same thing. They are comfortable and my foot feels stable. Not worth the price they charge. Only gortex option.

Is true to size but is too tight for comfort.
I use this shoe as an everyday shoe and it does well for that purpose but is just too narrow to be comfortable. The back of the heel slips as well. These are sturdy and I know they will last a long time since they're taking time to break into, which I prefer. Would love this shoe if they weren't so tight around my mid-foot and if they didn't slip off my heel

No gaiter attachments
After ordering the wrong size (my fault) and finally being able to put them on my feet, I realized that they do not have gaiter attachments. I ONLY bought this model because it has the "good tongue." The Olympus 5 has the razor blade tongue that leaves cuts in my ankles, so I thought I would give this a go. I wear gaiters to keep dirt out of my socks and no amount of water proofing is going to stop that so I don't understand why the gaiter attachments are omitted. Super sad. Back to Lone Peak and the only hiking model left with decent padding and a good tongue.

not worth it for the price
I was very excited for these pair of shoes as I liked the design of it along with the gore-tex waterproofing. I wore these for my tour du mont blanc trek last month and started developing right lateral foot pain after a couple days from the constant pressure applied to my mid-foot. The shoes are also on the heavier end of the spectrum as well. I will give the shoes some credit as the grip and traction was very good. SO in summary I would give these shoes 2.5 stars if i could,.

Great shoes, but weirdly sticky
I researched similar shoes for weeks, and I bought a pair six weeks ago. They fit great, the toe box is perfect for my bunion, the cushioning is as good as my Hoka Bondis, and the waterproofing has been perfect so far. However, I noticed when I was walking on smooth floors indoors, they were very sticky sounding. Like, so sticky sounding everyone in earshot notices and looks up. I thought it would wear off after a while, but it hasn't. I posed the question to Altra, and they responded, "The Olympus has a Vibram outsole, which is intentionally very sticky. It keeps the wearer from slipping when hiking or trail running, but it will stick to slick indoor surfaces." I have lots of shoes and boots with Vibram (or similar) outsoles, and none of them sound like this. I bought these shoes for traveling in the cities and countryside of the UK in rainy October. Seemed like a versatile shoe for a light traveler. Not sure I'm going to take them now, since it's likely that when I'm in Westminster Abbey it will sound like I stepped in a plate of maple syrup on my way in the building. Too much to pay for shoes I can only use outdoors. It's unfortunate. I really like the shoes, but the sound is ridiculous and embarrassing. I can't recommend these shoes, and I won't buy them again, because of this.

Too narrow -- quality control issue?
I own a pair of VIA OLYMPUS shoes and they feel great. I wanted to get a pair of shoes that are water resistant so I thought the OLYMPUS 5 HIKE LOW GTX would be a great option as they are lined with Gore-Tex. The deep teal also looks great, in my opinion. With great anticipation, I ordered the shoes and was looking forward to putting some miles on these shoes. When they arrived I immediately tried them on and knew immediately they were not going to work out for me. The left shoe felt fine. The right shoe on the other hand was incredibly tight across the top of the foot. This was before I even tried to lace up the shoe. The difference between the left and right shoe leads me to suspect the quality control for this shoe. I am disappointed with this shoe as it looks great and I have been satisfied with the VIA OLYMPUS shoe. The good news is that I am extremely satisfied with Altra's return policy. No questions asked; I have returned the shoe and am looking for an alternative original footshare shoe.

To narrow
Whoa! Love the look. I wear 11 size Altras. I have 4 different models and they all are great. With the Olympus, 11 and 11.5 were too narrow. Waterproof membrane needs to be thinner or wider shape.

No
I have purchased Lone Peaks before and decided to try Olympus 5 hiker low. I was very disappointed. The width was too narrow causing my feet to fall asleep. The lasses needed to be pulled at each lass cross. The back pull on loop needs to be rotated 90 degrees and made of wide fabric and not lass material. One last this the back of the right shoe feels low on the back of my foot. It feels like my foot is pulling out. I am in the process of returning this item and going back to the Lone Peaks.
