    Breathable!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The ALPS Mountaineering Getaway Chair is comfortable, breathable and spacious! One of the best chairs out there for the price. It's low enough for outdoor concerts, the side cooler is so awesome and the cup holder fits most cups/bottles (no Nalgenes). The good new however, the Nalgene can be tossed in the side cooler. Booyah!

    Beer drinkers rejoice

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It has a beer cooler in it. Yes.
It's also fully mesh backed which is great for the hotter days we have here in Utah, and it sits relatively low to the ground so you don't feel like you're lording over everyone else in the campfire circle.

This chair has changed my life.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

It's impossible to sit in this chair not be happy about it. Furthermore whatever you're watching becomes instantaneously more interesting because your comfort level is at an all-time high. Pretty light. Looks like it's gonna last long time.
I may buy several and give them to my parole officer as a thank you gift. You will not be disappointed

    Comfy campsite chillin' chair

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Woah that was a lot of "C's" in the title. But definitely all true! I just got this chair and brought it car camping and while it is a little bit big to travel with, is definitely my new camping staple! The chair is pretty low to the ground and the arm rests with one cup holder and then the other side with the little cool are PERFECT. Haven't used the little cooler armrest yet to keep things cold but it works to hold snacks just as well. All the specs are in the review below which I got directly from the ALPS mountaineering website. My only issue is that the chair is kind of big and heavy when folded up but its easy to just throw in the back of the car and head outside! Overall I really like it and would recommend.

    ***PRODUCT DESCRIPTION***

The name couldn't be more fitting... If you like relaxing on the beach, listening to the waves roll in, the Getaway will be the perfect chair to escape to. If it's a hot summer day, the Mesh fabric will provide maximum air flow and there is an arm cooler attached to keep your beverages cold. Killer Chair

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

While I love the earth and the ground it's really nice to kick back and relax in this chair! Perfect for car camping or hanging out at a bbq. The low stance puts no pressure on the legs so you can really get comfy. Love this chair!

      Pure laziness

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Camp chairs are the best to have around!
      - The are great porch seats.
-This one does sit pretty low to the ground so be careful that you don't just plop down in it.
-The cup holder is a must have!
-The beer cooler! whaaaaa, this is why its great for lazy people who don't want to go to their cooler to grab another beer.
-Also, instead of using it as a cooler my friend used it and said they put their little bit of trash in it.
-Great buy, would be a great affordable gift too.

Sit back and enjoy a cold one...

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Although a little heavy to lug on a hike or backpacking trip, this Getaway Chair is ideal for summer leisure time and car camping. It is impressively comfortable, easy to assemble and the mesh is breathable for those long days in the sun. The chair does dip pretty low so if you have bad knees or weak legs I would recommend considering other options. And like every other reviewer, I agree that the best feature is the insulated beverage cooler that easily holds up to 4 ice colds brews for after your hike or bike ride. Remember to get a 2nd chair for your lady (or man)!

Picture below was taken on Antelope Island outside of SLC, Utah.

it holds 4 beers in the arm cooler!!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

these are perfect for sitting around the campfire. they are low, mesh so you don't overheat and they hold 4 beers in the built in arm cooler! It just doesn't get better than that!

Does anyone know the weight of this chair? I like the dimensions and structure but weight would be a slight concern for me when kayaking and canoeing on weekend trips on shallow Missouri rivers.

      I hope this makes sense...
See the point where the arm rests meets the vertical post in the back. That section that holds the arm rest at a specific angle. My question is, does the arm rest slip down this easily. I don't like it when this happens, I like to set the arm rest where I have it and it stay there. It drives me nuts when they slip down and the arm rest is useless.
      thanks for any help.

This sounds strange, but I need to know if you can roll a basketball under this chair? I want to use this for a festival, but they do not allow higher chairs that you can "roll a basketball under".
