Nearly great, but way too many problems
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
This bag has the makings of something great, but it has so many small annoying mistakes to it that it's ultimately not worth it. For example: while the waist straps are good and have nice little pockets on them, they are also bulky, not removable, and fold in naturally so that every time you put the bag on you have to get them out of the way (trying to wear the bag on one shoulder is impossible b/c the waist straps make it slide off your shoulder). In addition, once you have the waist straps out of the way and it's on your back, the loop handle on top is thick and naturally hangs downward, so it digs into your back and has to be pulled upward -- every time. So between the waist straps and the top loop handle, that's a lot of work to do every time you put your bag on your back. It's also worth adding that due to the canvas overhanging the zippers (which looks quite nice), all the zippers are awkward to get to and difficult to open and close (the ones on the waist straps most of all). Speaking of zippered pockets, the top zippered pocket looks nice and big but somehow turns out to be tiny inside.
For $279 (or even the current sale price of $167), this bag should not have so many little problems that make it constantly annoying to use. It's disappointing because it's so close to being a great bag, but they've only gone 80% of the way on nearly every feature. I'm going to send mine back, having tried it out. If the company actually does some R&D and fixes all these utility problems, I would consider trying it again.
How much does this backpack weigh empty? Thanks!
