I got the red one
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
It forced me to slow down my cadence. I feel like I get more "output" with less effort so legs and back don't tire out as quickly as before. I did not have to do any adjustments to my derrailleur, just bolted it on and went on my way. Pretty easy install, the most time consuming thing was cleaning the cranks, pedals and bolts. I was in the area so I figured no sense in installing a new part on dirty bits. No spacers required, I was able to use the existing bolts. The only negative experience for me is the chainslap. I did not have chainslap before or if I did, it was not audible like it is now. For $60 something, it's well worth a try. I plan on a new bike for in the next year or so and will absolutely use a traction ring on it. I don't ever plan on going back to circles. Furthermore, I had tons of questions and the guys at Competive Cyclist took the time to respond in a helpful manner each time. I would highly recommend this site to anyone that asks. Big Kudos on their customer service.

Smooth Pedaling
Decided to try the oval one and wasn’t convinced it made a difference at first. I am starting to notice my ride times are a little faster and it is a smoother pedal stroke.

You spin me right (kinda) round baby
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've been using oval rings on my road bike for a few years now and could feel a difference when I'd hop on my MTB with round rings. Put this on and instantly felt better, especially when the trail pointed up.

Efficient Pedaling
- Familiarity:

I'm a fan of the oval positioning on the AB rings. I have them on both my road and mountain bikes, and I find they help smooth out my pedal stroke quite a bit, especially during seated climbing efforts. Rotor offers multiple positions for those who want to dial it in just that little bit more, but AB certainly nailed it for most riders.

Don't forget to buy bolts
Check this out before you buy: Impotant info on the AB website: https://absoluteblack.cc/bolts.html Competitive Cylist doesn't offer a complete solution for actually mounting this.

What does that have to do with the quality and function of the chainring? Nowhere does this ad tell you that either bolts are included, or that you can find them on this site.

Worth it
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This chainring feels great. I cant feel the oval shape at all. It is just smooth pedaling. I recommend it to anyone.

Absolute Black Racing Red

I added this Oval Chainring to my Niner Jet 9 Carbon to upgrade it. I could feel the difference immediately! The way the ring is mounted sets it up to apply and direct the maximum amount of force available. The pedal stroke starts with the crank at the top of the oval and quickly transitions into what feels like a gentle downward slope which allows you to exert more force with less energy expended! I added it to an Eagle XX1 setup and at 53 years old I can tell I no longer fear the uphill! I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking to improve their ride and I will be adding one to my Cross bike soon. CHEERS!

Awesome

I was worried based on reviews of similar oval rings from other manufacturers that I would feel the oval shape in my pedal stroke. Not the case at all. AB's version of Narrow Wide works awesome. I use a 32 tooth on my Remedy 29er with a 46t XT and I feel like I can go all day.
