It's a balancing act.
Your knees need some extra padding, but you're not willing to sacrifice your performance for a just-in-case piece of gear. 7 Protection took Sam Hill's feedback into the design of the Transition Plus Knee Pad to ensure that it is race-worthy, so whether you're crushing laps at the park or actually competing you can perform efficiently. Extra side padding and an extended pad design increase your odds of hitting foam instead of something you can hurt. The pad sits higher on the thigh than most pads of similar design, and has a silicone strip that enables it to hold its position. The knit sleeve is constructed with breathable material, and features a mesh back panel for maximum airflow—preventing your knee pit from becoming swampy so you can finish your ride comfortably.

- Q & A
Used these pads for skiing and snowboarding on a week long trip to Revelstoke, BC. At first I was skeptical about the rubber lining at the top and bottom, but it actually worked really well at holding the pads in place. Over the course of 5 days riding on skis and snowboarding I only had to adjust the pads maybe once? They are not as protective as I would have hoped, which is why I give 4/5 stars, but having said that I was really happy with their performance and comfort. I really couldn't even tell they were there until I knelt down while boarding to wait for the rest of the crew, which is half the reason I wear knee pads in the first place. They do run a bit snug.
Awesome mid weight pad
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
I wanted a pedalable pad for a 2 week trip up to Whistler/Squamish that could also handle some bike park abuse. I checked these out and wore them for a day before the trip and was instantly sold. The pad is super comfortable, and having the extra side padding is really useful if you lowside your bike or if you bang your knees into the top tube. The only reason these didn't get 5 stars is if you start your ride in colder weather (below 50 degrees) the pad gets really hard and is uncomfortable until your body heat warms it back up.
Hunt is over.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have been searching for a protective and pedal-able knee pad for a long time! I took these down to Moab for a weekend of riding and feel confident that my search is over. These have enough protecting for enduro races with additional side coverage for frame and crash protection. thanks to the longer fit these stayed in place through the ride and into the camp site where I had actually forgot I still had them on. I rode with the large and run them under my short liners for additional grip on my leg. My legs measure (over my pants) 20.5
