Excellent choice for rivr running & play

Bought this whitewater paddle as a gift to myself for Xmas after trying a few different models and doing plenty of research. I got the green Sherpa Bent R30 with the pretty topo graphics. I've managed to take it out 3X in the play holes so far this January in the rare 50 degree weather we've enjoyed. The water was ice cold though so I had to use my Toaster Mitts. I discovered an unexpected benefit of the bent shaft: easy to reorient your blades while inverted in a white torrent, even with the mitts on. I love the way the bent shaft rotates into place and keeps the blades ready to push or pull without having to look down. The blades are light and strong and take the rocks on without much scuffing. This Sherpa paddle is easier for me to maneuver with than the larger Powerhouse blade I tried last fall and still gives me plenty of purchase for attainments. Werner has a great reputation here in SW Virginia among the experienced locals and this light and strong paddle has made the right impression on me.
