Imbued with the lightweight versatility to effortlessly handle everything from floaty, loose trail to fast-rolling hardpack, the Maxxis Minion DHR II 3C/Double Down/TR 27.5in Tire is a go-to choice for downhill and freeride adventures. The DHR borrows the shoulder lugs from its sibling, the DHF, for a slightly wider stance than the OG DHR. The center lugs, which were once completely separated, are now nearly joined for a bit of a paddle effect. Together these improvements mean better cornering and improved braking, especially in loose conditions.
Maxxis' Double Down dual-ply casing construction provides slightly heavier, downhill-worthy protection compared to EXO. While this does add a bit of weight, it makes up for that small compromise with increased durability through hard-charging runs and heart-dropping descents.

I rode the shiz out of this tire on slickrock at Gooseberry Mesa. Beat it up, and it has never ever let me down. Super-durable and a big mental relief when you want a tire to hold up in sketchy conditions. I just ordered another one online with Ian M. and he was killer to work with here at Competitive Cyclist. No one else comes close. AND, no one else seems to have the inventory, stoked.
