Why We Like The Weston Revel X Jessa Gilbert Splitboard
Snow surfing at its finest, the Weston Revel X Jessa Gilbert Splitboard is our favorite option for backcountry days filled with deep powder and tree runs. This directional split thrives in pow thanks to its large reverse-camber nose and iconic fishtail that keep us well afloat, without spending much energy, to log lap after lap. The poplar core works in tandem with paulownia stringers and bamboo inserts for an impressively light and nimble feel when we're weaving through tight trees. Plus, we love that Weston gave it carbon stringers in the swallowtail for some added pop when we want to boost off natural features.

clunky on the downhill
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This is my first splitboard so I don’t have much to base it off of. So far I’ve had a few minor issues, for one it was very difficult to find skins that properly fit because of the swallowtail, I was a little frustrated I couldn’t find any recommended ones that would fit that shape on here or on the actual Weston website… ended up settling for some G3’s because it was all I could find in person that would work. As for the board itself, I haven’t noticed any mechanical issues, it’s simple to break apart and put back together, but do pay attention to the specs! It is much wider than a typical resort board (perhaps that’s across the board on all splitboards though? Again, this is the first one I’ve owned and used) so it does make it a little bit less playful feeling because it’s so wide and takes much more effort to make the turns. A lot less agility for sure. And dang she feels heavy compared to my resort boards. Again maybe that’s just the nature of the beast with splitboards? I am also unfortunately in the northeast this season so I didn’t have much pow to bring her out on either, but heading out west and catching the end of the season out there so if I remember to I’ll update this review if my opinion changes!

Surprisingly great in all conditions
- Familiarity:

I bought this split specifically for deep powder tree skiing (which I do a lot in my job as a backcountry photographer at a catskiing operation). It's been incredible to ride on those deep powder days, but what I've been most impressed with is how it performs in all other conditions. It uptracks really well, holds an edge in firmer conditions and I've even carved some groomers on it. Don't think a swallowtail split can't do everything - it really seems like this one can! Plus it's soooo pretty. I get compliments from everyone!
