Why We Like The Samaya Samaya2.5 Tent

The Samaya2.5 Tent offers incredibly durable construction for serious alpinists to sleep comfortably in rugged high-alpine conditions. The electro-spun, highly breathable Dyneema fabric delivers reliable weatherproofing in a lightweight single-wall design, minimizing our pack weight and packing down small without sacrificing any performance. The large, hexagonal floor space comfortably sleeps two people with gear or three people on more minimalist trips, and the high ceiling allows us to move around comfortably.

Absolute Garbage

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Purchased this tent as a 4-season mountaineering tent. Tent pole snapped while setting it up in my home before taking it out in the elements. Followed the directions and tent pole snapped near the insertion point. Clearly manufacturing defect or problems with 1-3 step process. I suspect that the poles need to be tensioned in reverse order because of how the sleeves are stacked. The nylon pole tubes are already coming unravelled. Not sure I would want to set this up in the backyard much less in winter weather or in the mountains. Absolutely do not recommend this. I also have not heard from customer service when sending receipt and information related to the snapped poles.

I bought this tent to lower the weight for backpacking and bikepacking. This is a great tent. I used it 3 times and each time, I was amazed by the experience. i also bought the vestibule.I own the Samaya basecamp and the alpine 35L backpack as well. I own many tents, Hilleberg, Mountain Hardwear, Exped and this is my preferred. Very robust but super light.

VERY Disappointing

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

To sum it up: great idea, attrocious execution. The first time I tried to set it up: 1. One of the pole sleeves ripped immediately, 2. One of the poles broke in two places. Returned right away. Thank you, backcountry.com for making the process as painless as possible!
