    LOVE this mat!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love this mate. Its nice and long so I stay on the mat. I do heated yoga and my slipping on my mat reduced. The rubber smell went away after 2 uses and it now my go to mat. I would recommend this to any one who is tall or needs a heavier mat.

    No Slip, No Pain, Heavy.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 135lbs

I do use this out side of my house, in a car. I think it's worth it. I like how sturdy it is, and that I don't slip and my knees don't hurt. It also holds up very well.

If you are new to yoga, I suggest this mat. If you are commuting with your mat outside of a car, it will be too big and heavy for you.

If you need a very light mat, look at the ECO Yoga mat for a light option that is big and soft.

    It's Big

This thing is pretty great. Plenty of room to work with, it's just sticky enough, and it strikes a nice balance of cushion and support. As others have mentioned it's a lot of mat to be lugging around, but the upsides seem to be worth that minor inconvenience.

    Great mat for at-home practice

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I truly love this mat, but it's a bit too heavy to travel with, so one would primarily want to use this mat for practicing at home and not traveling to and from a studio. The thickness of it is really grounding for me in my practice. I also love the fact that it remains cool, whereas other mats I've had can absorb heat and start to get somewhat sticky. Plus, it's biodegradable, which is what really sold me on it!

Great length, can't avoid the slip

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really enjoy this mat. It was my first real upgrade from a Target mat after I started getting into yoga. I LOVE the length - which some may not - but I'm tall and having the extra room is great. One of the reasons I upgraded to a rubber mat was thinking my hands wouldn't slip but I've come to realize that I'm just a sweaty person and when there's sweat on your hands, not even the rubber can save you.

Other than accepting that... the mat provides the right amount of cushion for poses on my back while not feeling like it's too cushy while doing standing balance poses.

The rubber smell never really bothered me and wore off quickly.

    It's a great mat that won't disappoint!

Great mat....doesn't excel in hot yoga

I had super high hopes for this mat. My previous one was a cheapy from TJ maxx and I've been getting into yoga much more so I thought I'd upgrade to a better mat that had better grip. The grip is great!....just not great during hot yoga. For some reason I thought it would be magic and I would NEVER slip ever again. But I don't really know if you can expect that from ANY mat out there...if it's got sweat on it you're probably going to slip!

These days I'm not doing so much hot yoga (too hot in Utah summers), so this thing really has been awesome in my house. I love it and after about 5 sessions the rubber smell did go away. I spoke to someone a while ago that returned a rubber mat because they thought the rubber smell meant that it was defective :/ nope, just have to work it out!

All in all, awesome mat, it's great when I'm trying new balance moves and provides enough cushioning on my back when I'm doing core exercises. I'm really in love with it. Keep in mind that it is verrrry long, which is good for me because I move around a lot :)

Great mat....doesn't excel in hot yoga

    Great yoga mat

Like Sierra said below, I can't believe I didn't make the switch to rubber long ago. I was deciding between this mat and the Manduka Pro Yoga Mat. I saw the two in person and decided that I liked the material of this Prana mat better. The Manduka material wasn't quite as texturized in the rubber and wasn't as cushiony. While shopping for a new yoga mat, I had graduated from my beginner yoga mat, and after talking to the Prana sales rep, he recommended the Indigena for people that needed greater stability when practicing more difficult poses. I'm glad I took his advice! There's a little bit of slippage when I get a little sweaty, but nothing too crazy. The mat is pretty long and a bit heavy, but this is a pretty solid yoga mat for those of you moving more into intermediate/advanced poses.

    Best Mat Ever

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had the natural rubber predecessor model (the prAna Neo Natural Yoga Mat) for over five years now, and it's not even really time to replace it yet. I have carried it for blocks, on the metro, taken it with me on airplanes. It does get heavy but it is the absolute best mat you will find. Mine would probably be showing less wear now if I hadn't made mistakes like leaving it in the sunlight for too long (oops). Wouldn't want to practice on anything else!

    Get this mat now!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my first rubber mat and I should have made the switch long ago!

This mat is longer which is nice. No more awkward downward dogs where your feet are half off the edge of the mat. This mat has the perfect stick, there is no sliding around, making holding poses way better. It is heavy, so it wouldn't be the best to travel with.

The only downfall is that it does show dirt easy. As long as you take care of it that really isn't an issue!

But seriously, get this mat now! It is the best.

    Rubber mat? Let's do this!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have avoided rubber mats for years because of the STANK. You heard me. I can hardly stand to be near one, let alone take a deep yogic breath on one. I like the idea of an eco friendly mat, however, so I decided to try this prAna mat.

When I first opened it, I thought I was in for the same stinky situation. Granted this is a rubber mat, and it does smell, but the smell started to fade after a few days practice. And the instructions say to rub lightly with a solution of water and white vinegar. This totally helps!!!

What really sold me on this mat and got me over the rubber smell is how damn lovely it is. The tribal looking design is elegant and somehow animalistic and I love looking at it during practice!! It is so soothing. The pictures online don't do it justice.

It is very thick and supports your elbows, knees, and head in various yoga poses. The thickness of the rubber makes it heavy though. I don't mind a heavy yoga mat but I wouldn't want to carry this mat on a plane or for long travel.

At 78 inches it is longer than the standard 72 inch mat which is nice when you're tall and lying flat on the mat your heels don't hang off. Total non-slip surface right from the get go in regular and hot yoga classes.

The only thing I can see will be an issue with this mat is that dirt shows easily on the mat. A quick wipe down after practice will keep it looking good, but it makes me wonder if it will start looking worn faster.

This is a great price for such a quality mat. Geez, I kind of have a crush on this thing. Beautiful lovely mat.....and rubber! Very cool.

    Rubber mat? Let's do this!

    huge!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

Nice for taller people, as it is pretty long.

Pretty heavy, so I wouldn't want to have to lug it around for too long.

super sticky, nice if you are someone who sweats a lot.

    really comfy.

It is rubber, so it stinks pretty bad. I'm thinking the smell will go away pretty quick though.

    Great mat

This is such a great mat.

If you are going to be doing bikram, it's awesome because you don't slip and slide around.

The color and dimensions are true to description.

I really like that the ends never curl up also.

A good mat if you are a bit taller.
