Durable, simple, but maybe too simple

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is a tough little pack, like those built in the good ol' days, and it's spacious enough for long summer day-trips. It's not as heavy as I expected, and it's comfortable fully loaded. I love the beefy waist belt. But, it's a little too simple. It's one big compartment, and there is no place to stash smaller items for convenient access, or water bottles. This pack is seriously old school, though it is ironically designed to accept a bladder bag. Too bad I prefer water bottles.

Great revision of a classic!

I had the original bomb-proof Simplex from 1992. This one is so much better. Same durable materials and construction, my preference over the lightweight materials of today. They got rid of the Speed-Dee system but added more modern practical features like the laptop sleeve. Super happy with this new version!

Design flaw.

This pack would have been a total classic, but without external water bottle pockets it's a no go! Almost Osprey but what were you thinking??? Maybe v 2.0?

Great simple design.

I just got this bag so I haven't gotten the change to use it a ton. But it has everything you need with nothing you don't. Classic design without being overly techy. Only downside was I thought it came with A bungee for the front straps, but it wasn't included and I'm not sure what kind to get.
