Why We Like The Norco Optic C3 Mountain Bike

Short on travel, not on fun, the Norco Optic is a certified trail ripper built for those of us wanting an efficient 29er for our daily trail rides. The frame is built from a combination of a carbon front triangle and an aluminum rear triangle giving us the perfect balance of responsiveness and durability. The 125mm of Horst Link rear suspension doesn't seem like a lot on paper, but when paired with the custom-tuned RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate DH rear shock, it feels seemingly endless and just begs us to point the bike down some gnarly descents. The aggressive geometry features a slack 65-degree headtube angle for confidence-inspiring stability at speed and a steep 76-degree seat tube angle for a comfortable climbing position. Plus, size-specific chainstays allow for everyone to experience the same playful ride feel across the entire size range.

The Norco Optic C3 kit is smartly spec'd to bring us high-performance shredding without breaking the bank. Shifting duties are accomplished by the reliably precise combination of Shimano 12-speed drivetrain parts from their XT, SLX, and Deore lines, while a pair of 4-piston TRP EVO brakes provide plenty of stopping power for when we get a little too sendy out there. A 140mm RockShox Pike Select helps us crush through gnarly terrain with ease and pairs well with the Super Deluxe Ultimate DH rear shock to make the Optic C3 descend with the capability of a bike with twice as much travel. Plus, a set of 29-inch Stan's Flow S1 keeps us rolling over just about any obstacle we come across. The Norco Optic C3 Mountain Bike is definitely not a Lycra-lovers dream bike, but it is the perfect bike for those of us looking for a short-travel shred sled that lets us get back up to the top without a shuttle.

Fun Maker

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This bike is perfectly balanced - it loves climbing and is even more eager when the trail turns downhill. The steep 76 degree seat tube angle puts you in the perfect position for long climbs while the slack 65 degree head tube angle is perfect when the trails get steep and rowdy. The value is hard to deny with a carbon front triangle, alloy rear end, and Shimano 12-speed XT/SLX components. The spec punches way above it's the price tag. The smart mix of components and forward-thinking geometry come together to create a super capable trail slayer. If you're looking to put a smile on your face without breaking the bank, look no further. You won't be disappointed riding an Optic.
