EV 2 Tent: 2-Person 4-Season

Legendary mountaineer Ed Viesturs teamed up with Mountain Hardwear to create the EV 2 Tent, which has become an staple for serious alpine adventurers looking for a shelter that offers the ideal balance of strength, weight, and size. While not as light as the almost unbelievably featherweight Direkt 2, the EV has a good bit more space, and still weighs just over 4.5lbs, no more than a standard 3-season double-walled backpacking tent. The EV, however, is a single-walled monster, designed to stand up to the worst snow, wind, and alpine storms Mother Nature dares to throw at you. It makes use of a three-pole Evolution Tension Arch design to ensure the ideal balance of strength and weight, and features an integrated vestibule that lets you keep your gear dry without cramping living space—every inch becomes precious when you've been trapped in a tent for six days.

Built with rugged and waterproof nylon fabrics, the EV also has some seriously considerate touches, like several SVX windows to let some light into your dark, dank, cave, and five welded, adjustable vents to help your surprisingly well-lit cave become a little less dank. There's even a watertight port in the floor that lets you drain accumulated water from frost and snow so you don't feel like you're sleeping on a punctured waterbed, though if you feel like hauling one up to 14,000ft, then more power to you.
