Great jacket!

If this jacket had hand pockets, I would give it a 10.

Great jacket

The little I needed this jacket on my last trip was well worth it. Kept me dry, and the ventilation was great. Fits well. I got a medium and it fits well over my base layers and gives plenty of unrestricted moment still.

Solid jacket, but...

Moving over from using Arc'teryx shells for the past 20 years, this shell is a change. In terms of fit, Arc'teryx shells tend to be hip length versus this shell that is a little longer and covers your posterior a little. The fit is also a little less fitted. In terms of sizing, I was recommended a Medium, but it was huge on me (very long in the arms, completely oversized hood, and way too much shoulder and wrist bulk.) A men's mall was the correct size. I'm 5'10" and 152 lbs for reference. The material on this shell is lighter than Arc'teryx hardshells. The hood on this jacket is oversized and easily fits my helmet. It's actually a better hood than on Arc'teryx jackets. When fully zippered, the front of the jacket covers much higher than other shells and protects your mouth area entirely (I wish the inside material was a little softer around the mouth area--a detail that Arc'teryx would have nailed), which is great on windy days. However, when not fully zipped, the shell material is a little awkward around the neck/face area. When fully zipped, it offers better protection than my Arc'teryx shells and you can forgo using a face mask. There are two large pockets on the chest area and one pass pocket on the left forearm as well as a phone pocket on the inside. Strangely, there are no side pockets on the front, which at first is strange, but there is plenty of pocket storage with the chest pockets and it's just something to get used to. The zipper is a little catchy. I had to use some zipper lubricant to make it glide more easily. This too is a detail that Arc'teryx would have nailed better. In terms of waterproofness, it did perform well in a snow/rain mix day. The water did soak into the material after an few hours, but it stayed on the surface and didn't get through to my midlayer. My sense is that this treatment is not as good as GoreTex or GoreTex Pro (water would not soak into my Arc'teryx after a few hours in the rain), but it's good enough unless you plan on skiing in the rain every day. In terms of ruggedness, I took this shell in tight trees and got slapped by several branches and it didn't even leave marks on the shell, much less any damage. Seems pretty strong. Overall, a very good jacket and given the price point compared to Arc'teryx, it's a good buy.

This jacket is phenomenal. It’s lightweight but still cuts the wind and chill like it’s not even there. Very waterproof and comfortable. I’m 5’10” and 175 pounds and the large fits great. The only complaint I have is the lack of pockets on the outside of the jacket. There are two on each side of the zipper but no hand pockets at the bottom of the jacket. Other than that, it’s the perfect jacket.

A sweet jacket that's dry and visible to those trying to follow you.

Lightweight full featured mountain jacket. Used on some cold backcountry days and all conditions at resort.

Haven't used this jacket yet but I was looking for something that looks good, is super breathable, and is waterproof enough for committing splitboard tours. Having tried (and been disappointed by) a lot of other shells I can say that this one *seems* like it will be perfect. It is lightweight, feels very breathable, and is super soft and comfortable for a hardshell. Great fit as well. If it is reasonably durable it will be a winner. I'm 5'7", 150 lbs and ordered a Medium. I like my shells reasonably baggy for splitboarding and a Medium is perfect. The sleeves are a bit long but when the cuff is cinched it doesn't matter. Would recommend a small if you're my size and like a tighter fit.
