Why We Like The TX2 Evo Approach Shoe
The TX2 Evo Approach Shoe from La Sportiva is a light and soft shoe to get us to the climb in comfort. The synthetic mesh upper ventilates out moisture and easily drains water if rain happens to run our way. We find it to be supportive and high-traction thanks to its reinforced midsole and specialized Vibram Idogrip outsole.

Good approach shoes
The shoes have very good grip on wet rocks and great for rock scramble types of hiking however compared to regular hiking shoes, the soles do not have enough support for hiking beyond about 5miles so after that the bottom of your feet will start to hurt on rocky terrain but I think it will still be fine on dirt trails.

Great overall approach shoes

I ordered these for hiking and climbing approaches. Tested them out over the weekend at Linnville Gorge and I have to say they felt secure and were very versatile for on and off trail hiking. We covered some hard terrain and I felt confident moving around in these. Note, they do run small. I had to return and order a 1/2 size up. They are supposed to be tight so I think I'll need to find some lighter-weight socks. Excited to continue trying these out on upcoming adventures.

For narrow width feet only
- Size Bought:
- 40
I have an older pair of the TX2 approach shoes and they fit like a glove. Ordered this new version and they are insanely narrow. I matched the soles of the new version to the old version (both are size 40) and La Sportiva has cut 1/3 to 1/2 inch off the width. So these will only fit narrow width feet now. I am not going to order the next size up because that is not going to fix how narrow these shoes are. Since I am an ordinary mortal, I will be looking for a different brand of approach shoes.

I bought these for climbing my local Via Ferrata. I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable they were and I didn't have any issues with slippage in the heel. They smeared nicely on the rock and were more supportive than I thought they would be since the upper is like a stretchy sock. The fit is fairly close to my TX4's which I love, but these are more breathable. The sole is flat with no raised heel unlike the TX4's, but it didn't make much of a difference in performance. I did go up a half size from my TX4's. I might be buying a second pair!

I have a really hard time finding a good fit in approach shoes - these are the perfect balance between an athletic shoe fit and climbing shoe fit. Outstanding grip on rocky approaches, easy on and off while climbing, secure footing on low angle leading. I love them!
