Why We Like The KEEN Targhee IV Mid WP Hiking Boot
We like our hiking boots to be comfortable, which is why we like the KEEN Targhee IV Mid WP hiking boot. This boot has Luftcell foam embedded in the midsole for extra cushioning while the KEEN fit gives our toes a little more wiggle room. We also like the look and feel of the Targhee's soft yet protective leather uppers, which have been sourced from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group. New for 2024, the 4th iteration of the Targhee is more durable than its popular predecessors with a new glue-free KEEN.FUSION bond that won't delaminate and also features a few cosmetic tweaks that distinguish it from the older Targhees.

Comfortable!
Great comfort and grip. I love that this boot runs wide since I have wide feet and I wear orthodics. This is my 2nd pair of Keen’s.

Unreliable Sizing
I love the boots but they are huge and I can’t wear them. They feel like a 9, not an 8.5. I’m so disappointed, and out the cost of these boots. Keen’s have been unreliable lately. They used to be my favorite shoes for years and years and years. I’m bummed but I have to quit you, Keen. Too expensive a mistake has been made once again.

Like a glove
As always Keen comes through for me. Even my picky husband was convinced. We researched and tried on all sorts of hiking boots. Took a risk at ordering on your website, as we couldn't try them on, (especially my picky husband). They came and like in Cinderella they were the perfect fit. No princess and the pea issues. True to size, went for a hike right away and no slippage on the heels, no blisters. So comfy. I have worn Keen shoes before and they have rescued me with my plantars fasciitis for years.

Bruised my leg
These boots were comfortable out of the box, but after a short 3 mile hike, I had a bruise on my leg. I’ve never had that happen with boots before.

Comfy and waterproof
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have loved my targhee III’s as they had a comfortable footbed and felt good to hike in but this newer version is comfy, tightly waterproof and harms been designed to not delaminate.

Favorite boots even better than Targhee 2
Love these boots. Only 2 small suggestions- the colors are not good for everyday hiking. I just got the brown ones but I plan to color over the pink edging today with a brown Sharpee-I waited 6 months to buy these as pink doesn’t belong on hiking boots, but when they were on sale I got the idea to recolor the pink to brown. I did a 5 mile hilly hike in them today. No break-in required. I wish the insole were not so soft but not a big deal as I usually buy better insoles like Superfeet to insert. I have hiked daily for 25 years and had at least 10 different types of boots and these are my favorite. I wore out 3-4 pair of Targhee 2s and they were my previous favorites but these are even better. Very comfortable and very endurable with good traction. I also got these in gray awhile ago (and sized up which I should not have) Gray looks good new but the dirt shows way more on the gray. The fit is roomier than on Targhee 2s so no need to go up a size on these.

Great light weight hiking shoe!
I love these shoes! I did order a half size larger than normal to account for the shorter toe box. They are waterproof, lightweight and add the stability I need! Love these shoes!

Good for day hikes
I wore these boots for 2 weeks for 10 hrs/day while picking up marine debris in Alaska in June. They were comfortable, good ankle stability on unstable driftwood, and didn't make my feet too hot. My only complaint is that the tongue is too narrow and wouldn't stay contained in the boot by the laces. The boot feels too big but I think that is because of the large too box.

Does not breath
I have always worn Keen Targhee mid boots for 15 years and these lV’s are too warm inside and don’t breath. During my hike my feet were so warm that I needed to take them off. I have never had that problem before with Keen Targhees. I didn’t have thick wool socks on, I wore Wright Socks as usual. I think it’s because they are made out of recycled plastics.
