    Welcome back.

While big names steadily dropped out of the glacier glasses game in recent decades, Julbo remained one of the staunch suppliers of the frames it pioneered. Originally developed to help mineral seekers track down treasure on the blinding slopes of Mont Blanc, the Vermont Classic Sunglasses are back to help Julbo celebrate the brand's 125 years of outdoor sunnies. Whether you're a mountaineer gearing up for a trip, or a hiker with longstanding awe and respect for the frames, grab a pair now to welcome glacier glasses back.

With the Expedition offering a more modern take on mountaineering frames, Julbo retained the Vermont's classic look and made no changes to its timeless design. Round mirrored lenses shield you from harsh alpine light, preventing eye fatigue and damage during long periods of exposure. Soft leather nose pieces and wraparound leather side shields prevent light from bouncing and reflecting from above, below, or either side of you, and endlessly adjustable arms allow you to dial in just the right fit. Their light, flexible construction ensures sore sports and aching temples don't slow down your progress when you have a full day ahead.

    Gorgeous

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased the white version of these sunglasses and they're beautiful. My face is a little smaller than average and they fit me really well. The lenses are closer together in this model than the Sherpa Spectron model. My boyfriend owns those and they're too big for my face and too far apart!
I wish that these were vegan, but they are really nice.

    Outstanding Glacier Glasses

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I've had a pair of Julbo glasses in the past that I liked, but this is my first pair of the Vermont. I wore them for four days straight on the snowfields of the Bailey Range in Olympic National Park and my eyes didn't notice the extra sun a bit. Full on protection from these and they look really cool!! One downfall from this purchase. It comes in a box with only a cloth tote bag to carry them in. Not useful if storing in a pack. So I went to REI and they sold theirs with a hard case. Fortunately, the REI guy just gave me a case. You have to have a hard case for carrying glacier glasses in your pack on approach to the snows. Hopefully this gets fixed.

    Not gas-station sunglasses

These have and will always be my favorite style of sunglasses. Not just because of form, but function. Professionally, my typical 9-5 job is that of a Land Surveyor and Civil Engineer, and I seasonally work as a guide (rock/alpine/climbing) between Utah and California. I previously had a pair of Julbo Vermont Classic (black side shields/leather, chrome frames, black lenses) with the polarized Spectron 4 lenses. These glasses, however, were stolen from my RV by a sticky-fingered hobo while I has guiding a climb last fall. I might mention said hobo also stole my backpack, containing lots of my climbing/survival gear - and of all the items, it was like losing a child when I came to find my glasses were gone. I used them every day, snow/alpine, climbs, hikes, summer free climbs, regular every day hikes, mountain biking, road biking, at work on engineering and construction sites; and i could beat the crap out of them without worry of them breaking. I had to get by with some Aviator knock off gas-station glasses for almost a year, when I thought to replace them after seeing a Backcountry.com sale. This time around I bought the Vermont Classic (brown side shields with CF mirror brownish colored lenses) with Spectron 3CF lenses, non-polarized. I actually like these lenses far better than my previous Vermonts, because I have a little wider application in their use. The polarized glasses blocked computer/device screens while in the field for work, and were a little too dark for a lot of purposes. I never drove with my previous glasses, but I now ride my motorcycle, mountain bike, drive car, everything with the Spectron 3CF's. Plus the Spectron 3CF's were slighly less expensive than my previous glasses. I was a little disappointed to find that these glasses don't come with a Julbo hard case, like my others had, but maybe one day you'll see a hobo walking around with a shopping cart full of pans and sleeping bags and random hobo stuff, decked out and adorned with some out-of-place-for-him Julbo Vermonts, and you could get my old sunglasses case back. Best glasses ever.

Extremely Practical in the Alpine, and D

The Julbo Vermont Classic Sunglasses- Spectron 4 are great. I do a ton of backcountry slowboarding and a good glacier glasses pair is a must. These defend the retina from the sun’s oh so harsh UV reflection off the snow. They are very comfortable. There is not a nose bridge, but instead, the glasses are held on your head by the comfortable, flexy rubber hook around the back of the ears. The leather pieces add a lot of comfort as well. Did I mention that these shades look dope! Five Stars. These are an integral piece in my Backcountry kit. Beacon, shovel, probe, Julbo Vermont Classics.
