Jade 28L Backpack

Calling the Gregory Jade 28 Backpack a daypack is an understatement; this all-season trekker handles summer ridge runs and winter ice climbs with ease. Its Crossflo DTS suspension system features a wired X-frame that stretches trampoline-like mesh tight, and there's an HDPE framesheet with an anti-barreling stay for sturdy support. Cushy, ventilated EVA covers the shoulder straps and waistbelt for extra comfort.

The Jade is a traditional top-loader, upgraded with a larger zippered opening for better access to gear. There's an internal sleeve and tube port for hydration reservoirs, as well as an external pocket with a removable rain cover inside. The backpack's bottom loops attach trekking poles or ice axes, and Gregory added dual stretch side pockets for water bottles, dual waistbelt pockets for lip balm and energy gels, and security pockets both inside and out for electronics and valuables.

It’s the Cinderella of pack sizes!

Perfect for day hikes or skiing, not too big and not too small, it’s just right!

The perfect pack for a serious hike!

This is the perfect pack for a long day hike with varying weather conditions. Plenty of room for layers of clothing, lunch, and the safety essentials. The fit and comfort are exceptional and length adjustment is easy. I like the easy, wide access to the main compartment and the belt compartments that are perfect for a phone, granola bar, lip balm. All features are well- designed and thoughtful. I expect to enjoy the pack for many years to come.

Stellar daypack

I'm a Gregory pack addict and this day pack is one of their best creations. I'm pretty picky about what I need out of a day pack and this one has all the bells and whistles. Great suspension system that can handle heavier loads (I often carry weights around for training), love the waist pockets for immediately accessible items, the side mesh pockets perfect for bear spray, doggie bowls etc Internal pocket for valuables, material very abrasion and water resistant. Only reasons for not giving it five stars are 1) The suspension system for the bladder does not accommodate non Gregory bladder systems (and one is not provided with the pack) and 2) The sternum strap broke immediately (as noted in the reviews). However, customer service was EXCELLENT and shipped me out a replacement sternum strap immediately. This is why I buy Gregory!

Great buy!

It was recommended by a friend who backpacks all the time, as his wife had one. I should have gotten the middle size. But it held al I needed for Isle Royale!

Jade 28 - A Most Excellent Daypack

This is a great day pack, with room for everything you need on a long trek. There is a reservoir pocket, two external side pockets, a security pocket, rain cover and a place to store hiking poles. The thing I really love is the ability to customize the fit. I have a long torso and I am avle to adjust the back to accommodate that. I also like the compression straps that help hold the weight in place and stop it from shifting as you move. The hip belt is great, with roomy pockets for cell phone, snacks, lip balm, sunblock, and a hankie. Excellent design. I also have the Jade 38 and I have to say it was the most comfortable pack I own. Now, I have the Jade 28 and it is definitely competing for first place in comfort. If you are shaped like a woman, check out Gregory Packs for women. They are the most comfortable packs designed for women. The quality is excellent and the pack is very lightweight considering all the features.

Chest strap broke after about 10 uses

I have several hiking bags and only uses this one on long day hikes. I love it but the chest strap broke too soon. I can’t get it repaired at the store I purchased it from.

Fantastic day or light overnight pack!

Fantastic day or light overnight pack! I'm a male, 5'9" 140lbs and the M/L pack fits great. The water bottle pockets work well and all zippers are great. Overall very happy with the design, size and fit. Also, when moving fast or running the pack moves with your body excellently.

Perfect day pack for longer hikes!

I LOVE the Jade 28! I used it for a trip to Iceland where I just needed a day pack. The 28L is a perfect size! I originally ordered the latest version of the bag and didn’t like it as much due to the fact that the front pouch was not as stretchy and no sunglass hook on the newer model. I returned it and got the one I wanted. ( I think the model is a few years old ?) I have a long torso so I love the ability to adjust the shoulder straps. The only thing I wish I would have noticed was that it does not have any ability to hang a sleeping bag off the bottom( no place to attach straps). I altered it and added my own. The waist is really comfortable and the waist pockets are large enough to hold a large iphone or satellite phone. Overall awesome bag!

Light, comfortable, weight is well distributed

Very light, comfortable and weight was distributed very well. I love how comfortable this pack is with the ventilated back and adjusted this to perfection for my small frame (I’m 5’2” and 105 lbs). I used this as a daypack and tested about 12-15 lbs on moderate hikes. My friends felt my pack and thought I would struggle on these hikes, but pack felt great and the weight was distributed well. I was even jogging here and there and loved how the suspension felt and how the weight shifted and bounced up and down, it just feels natural and comfortable.
